Graphical Displays for Categorical Variables

The adage that "pictures are worth a thousand words" extends to the analysis of data. We call pictures of distributions "graphical displays." The first graphical display that we meet is a bar graph. A bar graph is a simple and effective display for illustrating the distribution of most categorical variables. It is really the only graph you need in your arsenal when you encounter a single categorical variable. In this video I introduce you to the purpose of graphical displays, then show you the two major displays (one good, one not so good) for illustrating categorical variables.
