The new Medtronic CGM is here- Medtronic Simplera. My review is simple- they starting to catch-up. I found Simplera to be a fantastic and very comfortable wearable. Simplera works as a standalone CGM, connected with inPen and the different Simplera Sync sensor connects with Medtronic 780G. Hope you enjoy my video.

Disclaimer: Medtronic provided me with the Simplera Sensor. I was not expected to make any content in exchange and all thought are my own.

If you have any questions about Simplera, let me know in the comments and I will help out!

You make such a good point about how terrible the guardian is for anyone with physical disabilities. I don’t have any and still find it difficult to insert and tape adequately.

So ready for this to be available in the US!!

I'm so glad you posted this! I'm in the States and it's not approved by the FDA here yet, but I am so ready!! It looks so much easier!! I'm on Guardian 4 now and I'm widowed with no one to help me change my sensor each week. I have no problem inserting the sensor and pulling off the needle guard but for some reason I have a very difficult time getting the transmitter clicked into place so I have to find someone to help me. It's usually a neighbor, a coworker, or several times I have walked up to random strangers at the gym and asked them to help. I hate being a burden each week, so I can't wait till I don't have to do that anymore.

Great video, and great news about Simplera! I'm writing from the States, and I can't wait for what you rightly said is the worst part of the 780G system to get better. Stay kind!

I absolutely despise the how difficult the Guardian system is to attach. I’ve been offered Simplera by my hospital team, to replace the Guardian 4 system and I’m so happy!

Thanks for the review. It’s such a pity we probably won’t see it launch in South Africa any time soon. The G4 is the bane of my pump experience. The only options we have here are the 780g with G4 and the Tandem with G6/7.

I would love to have this but Medtronic are saying that patients already on the 780g pump have been told they are going to have to wait until they can roll out an update to the old pumps which is very disappointing.

Dziękuję za informację. Od dwóch miesięcy jest dostępny w Polsce i właśnie się nad tym systemem zastanawiamy. Pozdrawiam.

And thats why I put my sensor around my stomach/abdominal. Although, simplery is way better than the current G4, but statistically, its outdated comparing to the competitors.

Roll on getting these, My wife went away for a few days and my sensor failed, had to wait until she got back to change it! Impossible on my own 😢Thanks for the content 👍

If you hear any clues about FDA approval for Simplera Sync US, let us know.

I agree Medtronic should implement the Abbott Libre 3+ algorithms. The tech is built-in just needs to be turned on. Like the 3+ Simplera Synch should be a 15 day Sensor.

I've used the Libre 3 with the 670G in manual mode for several years. 780G just delivered with training to be scheduled next week. After 54 years with Brittle Type 1 I'm more than ready for smart AID algorithms!

Thanks for your review from a new (US) subscriber to your channel.

You said in the video you wore it for longer then 7days, does that mean you were able to restart it somehow/extend it's life?

I ditched the Medtronic brand completely due to the guardian CGM sensor and the extremely proprietary supplies. There needs to be open standards that device manufacturers follow. I want to choose my pump, infusion set, algorithm, CGM.

I’m interested in a 7 day infusion set but not enough to go back to Medtronic. But if open standard (same connection system) I could try and possibly give Medtronic that portion of my money. But on the flip side. If I had a Medtronic pump that would be the only part of their ecosystem I would own and possibly the infusion set. Dexcom CGM and a different algorithm.

Do you know if the adhesive tape of the Simplera is the same as the Guardian 4? I am asking because I react very sensitive to some afhesives (e.g. Freestyle 1 in the past) and atm my body has no problem with the Guardian 4 adhesive.

Do you know if there will be a possibility to try a Simplera sensor before switching the sensor as a whole?

Thanks for the video :)

Used Simplera for a couple of weeks, and in my opinion its a total disaster! The aplicator does need so much pressure before the sensor pops out, IF the sensor pops out anyway, the first one didn't, the second one does and failed after 3 days, the 3th didn't pop out after the 4th i was completely done! After a huge push it hit a bone in my arm and started to bleed and yes! After 4 days sensor failed again, i going back to G4 its outdated maybe but insertion is much easier and painles, ill wait for the Libre 3 when its available in europe connecting 780G pump. After a call with Medtronic Netherlands they confirmed my problem, a lot of users complained about the same problem.

I heard you could overlap when replacing the sensors so you don't have a 2 hour warn up time. Is this possible and how would it be done?

Doesn't it require calibration every day? That's what i read. I could talk a bit more about how did you extended the 7 day period.. it can be restarted, like the G4?

The G4 sensor I am using gets very limited coverage from my insurance. Is the Simplera more economic than the G4?
