As a Buddhist, I very much appreciate that Buddhism was brought up. There are all sorts of Buddhist extremism that aren’t really brought up in the US, mostly because of the way the religion was first introduced by both Buddhists and non-Buddhists. I just wish it was understood more, both for the sake of others and by extension myself

Drew, you asked JJ why he was open to sitting down with a controversial figure. There was an even simpler answer. He's Canadian where being an atheist is not controversial. Fundamentalist Christians, such as your family, would be controversial here.

I appreciate JJ's reasoning behind drinking. I've personally never had so much as a sip, and I don't have particularly strong reasons, which seems to really annoy people. My explanation is that unlike drinking alcohol, the choice to not drink alcohol can't result in serious health and social issues, and if I can have fun without that risk, why would I risk it

I’ll bet that if they actually watched your videos they would see how sincere and nuanced you are. I am a Christian and I absolutely respect you. I also really appreciate the respect that you show to all people. Personally, I enjoy watching your content because it challenges me to look at my own beliefs with fresh eyes and to ask questions. I agree with JJ; what you do is important.

I very much relate to JJ both on his sort of non religious spiritual belief and the "good boy syndrome" thing. I start to differ from him on the inherent deference to existing structures thing, but I very much respect his beliefs because they are so clearly principled

it's so interesting how people can have such a different background. I grew up in atheistic family, I never herd even my grandparents talking about god, I was never baptised too. And there are a lot of atheistic people around, more then religious. Guys grew up very different. They are athristic despite everything, while it was nothing to me to acive. Such a different start yet now we're at the same place, fascinating.
