What's good and bad about Conservatism

Hello JJ. I have been watching your channel for quite a long time now. I have had a large interest in your take on Canadian and American Politics, even though I am not in anyway considered a conservative. I truly love learning so many new things from your channel every week.

I value individual liberty and equality over practically all else; however, I have never lost sight on how grateful I am for the sacrifices those before me had to make so I may have the many opportunities available to me now. Technically, I am a little bit more left-leaning, but I tend to be as I absolutely neutral as possible. I prefer stepping back and finding well informed solutions to complex problems over the nuance bickering and hee-hawing of the current political climate.

I would attest my politics to my personality and social life. My family has never been stable or had much money, but we always have had a high value on work and education. My living through the plight of socioeconomic inequality has led me to be more liberal, but my value of education and hard work has led me to be objective in looking for real solutions to the tough questions.

Thanks for making these amazing videos. I appreciate your input on the issues you speak about. Keep up the great work!

I'm a conservative but I wouldn't want to live in a world where America is completely controlled by conservative ideology. I would want best of both worlds.

Conservatism (like any political ideology) is good, but problems arise when people start using it as an identity, when people start seeing it as some sort of sports team that they need to root for, when people become more focused on their ideology winning than actually discussing the merits of one's position. Not everyone is 100% conservative, not everyone is 100% liberal, and not everyone is 100% centrist.

JJ literally represents a minority of conservatives, like myself, which I can’t ever find more of. I’m a conservative with what I consider to be a very “liberal” personality so I often get so turned off by many people on my side. I get to the same conclusion as them but for very different reasons.

As a member of Gen Z that gets to vote in the upcoming 2019 election, I appreciate your videos and your honesty. It's quite difficult to learn about the Canadian political system on the Internet without encountering very biased information. I like your effort to stay neutral and to inform.

I like it when self-identified conservatives can identify their own biases, I wish we would see more of that in the US.

I'm not conservative but I love hearing JJ's perspective and attitude. If more people on BOTH sides of the political spectrum could be as level headed and open minded as JJ, the world would be a lot better place. Watching his videos has certainly made me a much more open minded person when it comes to handling people I disagree with politically.

When I was younger I considered myself a moderate. I have conservative values in the way of being grateful of who I am, what I am, and where I am, and thinking that those things are not inherently bad. But I also recognize that certain aspects of American reality do not live up to the American ideal. So politically I am considered a liberal simply because I want a country who proclaims justice for all to - well, provide justice for all.

I sometimes wonder if in other countries I’d be considered a conservative.
