Good luck to those who are applying. Wrote my personal statement the day before. I have laughable academic stats eg failed all AP tests and less than 1500 SAT, yet I was admitted to UCLA. Now a second year and I firmly believed my essay is what got me admitted.

I’m actually grateful to application essays because it gives me the opportunity to show there’s more to me than just grades and I’m not some bland generic student.
Why’s everyone so against it? It lets colleges see students who are actually passionate and to formulate what sort of individuals they’d be letting on their campus.

Weird how I'm reluctant to share extremely personal details about my life to my friends, family, and teachers but I'm willing to share every minor detail of my life on a college app so I can maximize my chances of getting in.
