Nutty Putty Cave Death

This maybe one of the saddest stories I've ever covered. A man was exploring the Nutty Putty Cave with family and friends. He went into a tight opening which turned out to be a dead end and he couldn't get out. The cave has since been sealed with his body inside.

Whats also scary is the fact he was a med student, and knew what was happening to his body and that he would most likely die.

It's especially sad thinking that he was still alive when this footage was taken. Right then and there at that same moment John Jones was somewhere deep within nutty putty contemplating his final moments in the most miserable, cramped position possible.

I remember this, they never got his body out it is still in the cave, they sealed the cave off with cement to keep it from happening again, poor guy. R.I.P.

That’s awful knowing your loved one is stuck in that same location where he died for the rest of eternity.

All these geniuses that are like “but he shouldn’t have gone in” and “why do people do this”. Yes he obviously made a terrible mistake, I think he probably realized that.

It makes me sad knowing that he was pulled out for some time. Just imagine how he felt when he slipped back to the hole

It's so sad and tragic but I will never understand why anyone in their right mind would want to squeeze themselves into such tiny enclosed spaces for shits and giggles. Especially head first. Just... Why?

They decided it best to leave his body in that cave, forever. When that poor man entered that cave, he had no idea he'd never be leaving.

What is really sad is hearing about how he interacted with the first rescuer, and how after they got seriously hurt, all he did was ask if they were okay while he was still stuck upside down.

Its sad that he died, but you always take a risk when doing things like that.

I'll never forget this. What an awful way to die. It breaks my heart that his wife had to endure all of this as well.

I remember the first time I heard about John Jones and the Nutty Putty Cave, how he never made it out and ultimately became entombed in there, and it really stuck with me for days. Just knowing he's still in there is very sad and extremely unsettling.

I find it equally horrific that during these interviews at night, he was down there still responding and conscious.
