Hypermobility and salt connection #shorts

In our "life with hypermobility" series people asked why always carrying a water bottle with us and eating a lot of salt were related to hypermobility.
They are indirectly related to it. Most hypermobile folks have low blood pressure. Many also have dysautonomia. Drinking a lot of water can help increase blood pressure and blood volume a bit which decreases symptoms of dysautonomia for many. Adding sodium can further bolster this and can also help you avoid becoming hyponatremic if you're taking in large quantities of water.
Some of our favorite forms of sodium include salted nuts, olives, pickles, tamari, and our LMNT electrolyte packets which also contain potassium and magnesium. You can DM us for a link to LMNT packets which will give you a free gift with your purchase. They are the best tasting, and best ingredients that we've found for salt/electrolyte packets.
Some of the other brands contain dextrose, artificial colors, Sucralose, and other ingredients that our sensitive Gl systems cannot handle. We also enjoy using different types of fancy salts in our cooking and like using a finishing large flake salt on our foods.
If you have high blood pressure, have been given a fluid restriction or sodium restriction by your doctor, then this isn't a method you should try. In our personal experience we both carried large water bottles everywhere and drank a LOT of water intuitively because we felt so much better when we did.
Both of us did this before we were diagnosed with hEDS.
I naturally craved salty foods quite strongly so it made a lot of sense to me when I was diagnosed and learned more about this. My body knew what it needed and I was already listening to some of those cues.

When I first started trying to exercise regularly a decade ago, I thought eventually I won't feel like fainting during my workouts... it wasn't going away until I discovered electrolytes tablets. They're expensive but they were life changing, I wanted them everyday.

As I sit here sipping my salt water with a pinch of sweetener. I get 150-200oz water and around 20g salt per day to feel good. I kinda feel down and hung over if I slack.
