[chorus]
get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seats
all eyes on me, all eyes on me
get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seats
all eyes on me, all eyes on me

[verse 1]
are you feeling nervous? are you having fun?
it's almost over, it's just begun
don't overthink this, look in my eye
don't be scared, don't be shy
come on in, the water's fine

[pre-chorus]
we're goin' to go where everybody knows
everybody knows, everybody, oh
we're goin' to go where everybody knows
everybody knows

[chorus]
get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seat
all eyes on me, all eyes on me
ayy, come on, get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seat
all eyes on me, all eyes on me, yeah, come on
heads down, pray for me
heads down now, pray for me
get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seat
all eyes on me, all eyes on me

[interlude]
you wanna hear a funny story?
so, uh, five years ago, i quit performing live comedy
because i was beginning to have, uh, severe panic attacks while on stage
which is not a great place to have them
so i, i quit, and i didn't perform for five years
and i spent that time trying to improve myself mentally
and you know what? i did! i got better
i got so much better, in fact, that in january of 2020
i thought, "you know what? i should start performing again
i've been hiding from the world and i need to re-enter"
and then, the funniest thing happened

[verse 2]
are you feeling nervous? are you having fun?
it's almost over, it's just begun
don't overthink this, look in my eye
don't be scared, don't be shy
come on in, the water's fine

[verse 3]
you say the ocean's rising like i give a shit
you say the whole world's ending, honey, it already did
you're not gonna slow it, heaven knows you tried
got it? good, now get inside

[pre-chorus]
we're goin' to go where everybody knows
everybody knows, everybody knows
we're goin' to go where everybody knows
everybody knows

[chorus]
come on, get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seat
all eyes on me, all eyes on me
hey, come on, get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seats
all eyes on me, all eyes on me, yeah
heads down, pray for me
heads down now, pray for me
i said get your fuckin' hands up
get up, get up
i'm talkin' to you, get the fuck up

[chorus]
get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seat
all eyes on me, all eyes on me
ayy, fuckin' get your fuckin' hands up
get on out of your seat
all eyes on me, all eyes on me, yeah
come on, heads down, pray for me
heads down now, pray for me
i said get your fuckin' hands up
get on—
all eyes on me, all eyes on me

It sent chills when I realized that the place hes talking about in the line “we’re going to go where everybody knows everybody” is heaven. He’s reaching out to the people who feel the same way as him. He’s reaching out to the people who feel better off dead too.

“You say the ocean’s ending like a give a shit, you say the whole world’s ending, honey it already did’” is such a sick line. It reflects Bo’s depression and how in order to take good care of the world you need to take care of yourself first.

This song really cuts deep 😢 I've buried my inner turmoil for months, masking that I'm okay to everyone including myself. This song brought out all the pain I've been feeling for a very long time. It's such a profound and powerful song.

This song seems familiar but so anxiety-inducing at the same time and I kinda love it

That laugh at the end when the whole crowd goes crazy and he gets happy and emotional because everyone is loving him makes me so emotional and happy for him and the fact he is so big in the world now. That little laugh just makes me so happy

Okay so here's what the feeling I get from listening to this song:

◇ After a long time of having no energy to do the things you used to love before, after feeling burnt out— finally, you felt sudden motivation, encouragement and passion to do something again. In a comforting way.

◇ Walking down a street, clouds are gray, it's cold, but somehow you're looking forward to the things you can and will do.

that's it—

For me "ALL EYES ON ME" by Bo Burnham can mean two things
It's either a command or a scary realization
The first verse, "Are you feeling nervous?, don't overthink this, look into my eyes, don't be scared, don't be shy, come on in, the water's fine"

he makes you think he's talking to the audience or to you like a command but in the second verse he repeats the lines again, but before that he had a short speech about his panic-attacks, saying he's getting better about his mental health and thinks he can perform live again, unfortunately when he was ready to perform Pandemic struck, and the last line of his speech was "the funniest thing happened" before he began to sing the second verse which has the same lyrics as the first verse.

However, if you understand his short speech, he means "the funniest thing happened" is that he sunk in depression again and his panic attacks came back
So the lines "don't overthink this, look in my eyes, don't be scared, don't be shy" actually means he is talking to himself
It's like the feeling that you get when you are in a stage giving a speech however you suddenly become conscious of those eyes, so in order to calm yourself, you say those words in your head, cause that's how social anxiety works

When he looks directly at the cam when he says the "look in my eyes", he knows you're staring right back at him

Which is why his next line is "don't be scared", it's not because he says that line to you to reassure you, it's the other way around he's saying those lines to reassure himself, he's just scared of you staring right back at him
Hence the title "All eyes on me"
The sudden scary realization that thousands of eyes are starting right at you
Hence when you're on that suffocating realization, you began to panic
So the next line "Put your f*cking hands up, get out of your seat, all eyes on me, ALL EYES ON ME" he portrays a text painting of a scenario
Like he's on the stage talking to the audience, but deep down he's scared,
very very scared

Hence the next lines are what he want to say to the audience but couldn't "Heads down now, PRAY FOR ME, PRAY FOR ME"
He wasn't asking you to worship him or anything like that, otherwise the lyrics would be "Pray to me, pray to me"
But since the lyrics says "PRAY FOR ME" he's literally asking you to pray for his behalf cause he couldn't do it
Those lines are literally a cry for help
Unfortunately most people don't get it

Remember the first lines
"it's almost over, it's just begun" it can mean the Pandemic but since the next lines are
"Don't overthink this"
He expresses what it feels to be in that scary situation, the first line means he reassures himself "it's almost over", but the next line betrays his little bit of courage
His dark thoughts is constantly haunting him saying "it just begun", and he fights that dark thoughts again "Don't overthink this"
Social anxiety is just like that, it's just a single moment but tons of thoughts already flashed through your mind

So Yeah, the next lines "Look in my eyes, don't be scared, don't be shy" he's referring to the audience and himself cause he's convincing himself that everything will be alright

"Come on in, the waters fine"
This line means, he's inviting you to come in (To his inner thoughts and inner world)
The water can mean his depression

So he portrays our inner selves like some sort of room and he's inviting you to come on in through his door, however when you enter his "room" has lots of water on it like a flood which isn't normal, so he reassures you that it's fine

Next he sings the line "We're goin' to go where everybody knows, where everybody knows"
I'm pretty sure not many people can get those lines
Cause not "EVERYBODY can KNOW" what he means
which is precisely his irony and his intention, cause if he had put the lines "We're goin' to go where everybody GOES"
It would be too obvious that he meant "Death "
He's literally implying that it doesn't matter to him anymore that his inner world is flooding with water (depression) cause in the end of the day "We're goin' to go, where everybody knows (GOES), everybody knows"

For him, whether he has depression or not, it doesn't matter anymore cause for him WE ALL DIE anyways 😅
And that's the scary thing, cause that's literally what DEPRESSION feels like

The previous lines "Come on in, the water's fine" and so it make sense that the lines goes "We're goin' to go where everybody knows" cause that's literally like his reply or explanation why for him "the water's fine".

Which is why in the music vid he's in his "room", which represents his inner self (inner world), and the blue lighting represents the "water" which envelops the entire room, which means he is currently drowning in depression

The next lines "You say the ocean's rising, like I give a sh*t, you say the whole world's ending, honey it already did, you're not gonna slow it, heaven knows you tried"

I know when you encountered this lines, you'd immediately think he's referring to our outside world, like the global warming and Pandemic

But for me, it meant his inner world
Imagine yourself being inside of his room (inner world), and you describe his ocean (water/depression) "rising", and he replies to you "Like I give a sh*t". And then out of concern you say to him that his world is steadily collapsing (ending), and then he looks at you while smiling "Honey, it already did".
His reply and behavior is already like someone who had completely given up
Which is why, you'd find him and this song eerily calm and soothing

For him the world had already ended, which is why he's no longer scared and in state of panic cause he already accepted the fact that no matter what he do, he can't change the outcome, hence the lines "You can't slow it down, heaven's knows you've tried"
He meant those lines for you and to himself, which implies that he indeed tried to stop it but he can't, he can't even slow it down, so he simply tell you to give up cause it's all futile, which is why when you're with him you think he's fine cause he's eerily in serenity

But that illusion immediately shattered the moment he stands up and shouts at the camera at the end part, where the music changed and he's spinning the camera to allow you to see how messed up the room is, while putting the audience cheering record up in the background to make it seem like there's a lot of people cheering him up while he's heartily laughing and the abruptly ending it.

Cause it indeed fool some people who only listened to the audio.

I just can't describe what a masterpiece this song is. The Grammy award is well deserved.
