Using Menstrual Cups and Discs with a Tilted Cervix

If you've heard the phrase "tilted cervix" in relation to using menstrual cups and have always wondered what that means, or if you have a tilted cervix and are wondering if that negatively affects using a cup this video is going to help. A tilted cervix/uterus are used interchangeably to describe a uterus that is not in the "average" position. A tilted cervix is unlikely to impact if you can use a menstrual cup successfully because the cup is designed to be worn below the cervix in the vaginal canal. There are a few instances you should be aware of and on the lookout for if you have a tilted cervix discussed in this video. For menstrual disc users with a tilted cervix there is one specific recipe for disaster that will make using a disc harder or impossible. Hopefully this video is helpful!

This is SO helpful. I'm 100% comfortable with all parts of my body and getting up in there to figure out what's going on. I have been so frustrated trying different cups and all of the demos and trouble shooting out there, I tried it all. About a 85% fail rate and they were never comfortable, some even put so much pressure on my bladder that I had ongoing issues with being able to start/stop peeing after taking them out for a few days. Every demo that just uses those plastic tubes or 2D models didn't help at all. THIS model actually helped me visualize what is going on down there.

I'm on month 3 since switching to a menstrual cup. The first 2 months were messy. I kept leaking and kept saying to myself, "I KNOW I have it over my cervix cause it's covered" but I kept leaking. THIS month, I tried something different and decided to move my menstrual cup more-so to the right side and see what happens. My gawd, it work!! I didn't leak at all for this month! Now I know why I kept leaking the previous 2 months. My cervix points more to the right than in the centre.

Hello, I love the educational content you're putting out there for people everywhere. Thank you for everything you do! I wanted to ask if you've heard that most women in the prison systems are usually not given enough menstrual products and have to wear them much longer than is recommended. I was wondering if you would ever consider raising awareness on that issue or maybe even working to provide reusable cups or discs for women that are in those situations? Having the proper products for our periods is something I know I took for granted until I learned that.

OMG! I’ve been using the same brand cup for nearly a decade, and just within the last two years I’ve been getting leaks. My doctor told me that my cervix is tilted backward. She’s been my gyn for twenty-one years, so I figured this must be new info since she only mentioned it recently. This all makes so much sense. You just saved me from going mad over this! I literally get anxiety over the thought of going back to tampons.

This makes so much sense. I have always had trouble Inserting tampons, for some reason only the bottom half would get soaked with blood. Turns out a tilted cervix is to blame. I am now a disc user, had some problems than found this video.

Thank you SOOO much! I have a bunch of disks and cups I’ve purchased and don’t seem to get it right and its been a few years of frustration trying to get it right but I stopped for a few years and decided to try again. Because it’s more environmental friendly, it’ll save me money, and I need something that’ll protect me for for longer hours. This was super helpful!

Being someone who has a retro vetted uterus, I tried using menstrual cups before and I found it difficult as I had issues with leaking, so this explained everything very well and just made a lot more sense so Thankyou!! I’m definitely going to try menstrual cups again! 🥰

Love this! Thank you so much Kim. If I had a video like this 9yrs ago when I first started using menstrual cups it would have really helped me troubleshoot. So glad you are here doing your thing! You are amazing!

This was helpful. I've often had issues with tampons (mostly but sometimes cups). They'd seem virtually unused yet leak city. I'm starting to realize I have some tilting going on. This explains so much. It always made no sense to me and made me so mad. 🤦‍♀️

I'm a new disc user and this video was super helpful because I'm having a period where I'm particularly swollen and my cervix is sitting lower and it has a tilt. I just got a reusable flex disc and just could not get it to fit right. I had a much easier time getting a disposable flex in.

Thank you so much for making this! I remember not so long ago i asked for this; while drinking my coffee and saw this in my suggestions i was like "Yes, she saw the comments!" You made my day lol

I was told i was tilted when i got an ultrasound early in life and told i had a little tilt when i was expecting my daughter. Now over time trying out discs and cups I've learned my cervix goes to the back and when high its like ceiling light hovering up there and gotta find it lol. I took the disc quiz and over n over was told my fit was cora so im hoping to get one soon someday; i also was told the mermaid, or Lena L was a good fit since my old cups are now too small and slide down and leak so bad. I can't wait to try my new Lena this coming month, you've been a lifesaver and wouldn't have stuck with trying new products and find what's right for me without your education and videos! Thanks so very much again! (And yes I'm officially admitting, I'm apart of The Cup Cult.) I'm so curious on what things work for tilted girls like i am lol

This was so helpful. I had been feeling a bit discouraged, but I’m going to continue trying. Thank you so much for your video!

You can definitely insert a cup past the cervix and have a hard time retrieving it, if you have a low cervix .
My learning curve with the cup was more about figuring out how to make sure the cup was enclosing my cervix, instead of being half the cup or more, past it.

I just switched to a disc, and this video was so helpful! I'm hoping that if I keep practicing pushing the disc down I won't get anymore leaks. Thank you so much for the visual!

This is so helpful! I was trying to use a disc this last period and was having so many issues with it and turns out my cervix is tilted to one side. I’m going to keep trying it out and see if I can figure out a way to make it work. Been a full time cup user for over a year now and it’s been great!

Thank you so much for this! I have never been able to use tampons or cups and didn’t realize I even could go “past” the cervix. That makes so much sense - it seemed like they weren’t catching anything at all despite leaks!

Thank you for this detailed video. I’ve known for a very long time that I have a tilted cervix, and I’ve tried using menstrual cups many times, but I experience leakage 90% of the time. I couldn’t understand why exactly until watching your video. I will attempt to keep the cup a little lower instead of higher. Thank you so much

Hey! Thanks so much you know I have never once seen a model like that showing rhe different positions! Was soooo helpful, was only told a few years ago that mone was tilted and finally understood why papa have been so awfully uncomfortable with the searching 😅. Anyways looking forward to taking you quiz to see which products will work for me. Tampons have been super uncomfortable for years, pads are what i use but im so self conscious of wearing in public for smells and or leakage. Its a hard go being women who mensterate so happy we have more information now for the younger generations. Wish i knew these things 25 years ago!!

This is so helpful! Thank you! Having a tilted cervix, most the time a cup works fine but I have placed my cup incorrectly and didn't know this was why, this will help me troubleshoot so much better.

Pushing the disc toward my tail bone and scooping worked! Thank you for making this for us tilted disc and cup users 🎉
