Limits of power?

The power of the president is enormous – and may be even more so with presidential emergency action documents (PEADs), classified orders granting vast presidential authority in response to extraordinary situations. PEADs are so secret even Congress cannot see them – and that troubles constitutional scholars. "Sunday Morning" special contributor Ted Koppel reports.

Transparency is the answer, folks. Anything less and we will all continue banging our heads against the wall, in the same place but harder each time. We must tire of the repetition of predictable, correctable political mistakes and no longer accept it as the inevitable status quo.

He has all these powers yet refuses to use them - or uses them in very odd ways. Right now he can easily call a session of Congress and force them to come to come to an agreement on pandemic funding. Yet he hasn't. He could literally take control of factories and have them make PPE. Yet he hasn't. What's he's done instead is make the problems worse, while giving his friends in big business tens of billions of dollars without the requirement that they produce something useful.

Interesting, more 'average Americans' should be taught about the three branches of government and their abilities from founding fathers, through constitution, to today in 2020. So that the majority can understand why this is a topic of interest currently.

I worry about what he might do during the Lame Duck period-especially if he loses.

As a person with some journalism experience, I must say this “interview “ is an excellent example of what is known as yellow press. We were taught, and took pride in, presenting both sides of an issue so the reader or viewer could make up their own mind. This “interview “ should be labeled as the fear mongering opinion piece that it is.

Government's powers are derived from the consent of the governed. When did we give our consent to this?
