We have taste buds that are stimulated by tastes like sour, bitter, sweet, salt and umami etc..
Each taste buds has chemoreceptors that help to detect different tasts

Very well demonstrated video. However it does add to My confusion! As half a dozen videos claim the same regarding areas of the tongue are responsible for different tastes, when others claim there are NO taste zones on the tongue. OMG who's right???
