Ever wondered how one could transition from a banking job to a role in cloud technology? Or how a career in criminal justice could pivot to becoming a Cloud Solutions Architect? Meet Destini Williams, our guest for this episode, who has made such transitions. They take us on a journey from their early careers at Wells Fargo and in criminal justice to their current roles in technology. We also discuss the different cloud solutions available at Microsoft, the role of programs like Level Up in Tech for budding techies, and touch upon our favorite underrated TV shows.

Navigating the tech industry and starting from scratch can be challenging, especially without a tech-focused background. Destini share their trials and triumphs, and we talk about the importance of research, seeking help, and the role companies can play in assisting newcomers. Destini speaks about her unique use of social media platforms for career growth and how she landed an internship through LinkedIn. We also cover pertinent topics like cybersecurity, identity management, and the role of Aura, our sponsor for this episode.

Finally, we emphasized the importance of communication and awareness in dealing with online scams. With the rise of online criminals targeting vulnerable populations, we discuss strategies to outsmart them and the role of scammer payback. Plus, learn from Destini how to navigate workplace resistance, transition roles, and negotiate compensation during a career transition. All this, peppered with a fun conversation on our favorite TV shows that sadly lasted for just a season. We promise you it's an episode packed with enriching insights and experiences! #cloudcomputing #cybersecurity #education

I went back to school for cyber security and this is my first year. I also worked in claims as a field adjuster. This video hit really close to home for me.

This is so crazy! I clicked on this video because she went from claim adjusting to cyber security which I'm interested in. And I'm also an adjuster. Then she said she went to undergrad for her degree in criminology, because she wanted to be a juvenile probation officer, which is the exact same thing I did! Like WTH 😂 this gotta be a sign! My aunt worked for the Florida juvenile probation office, so I was always in there growing up and my mom also worked in social services and was an adult probation officer. I always figured if I could help them young it would make a difference for later. This is serenely inspiring to see someone take the path I was considering! I'm only 10 minutes in.

This whole interview could be a series!!! Seriously ❤ I especially liked how to dive deep in your interests (cloud) and making your experience (education and projects) work for you.

You both are paying it forward, and though it’s like “dang, I wish I knew this and that…” and coming into realizing it’s all about the journey…it’s the experiential experience you can speak to in paying it forward (like this interview ❤)…I so needed this reminder.

You two are amazing! ❤✨

This interview was great and informative. This just gave me the realization that I have to take a leap of faith of taking an internship/contract position to break into tech. I can relate to Ms. Destini on studying and working full-time. But in the meantime, I took down all the gems you both laid out.

Just earned a new sub. This interview speaks so much to me from being a 1st gen college student and picking a worthless major (History) not knowing what all was out there until it was too late, currently working in Complaints/Compliance for a finance company and in school for Cybersecurity currently. Just gotta focus on the journey and not the right now.

My Masters Degree at University of Maryland was heavy on Red/Blue Team assignments and my undergrad was CISO case study implementing incident response and forensic tools.

Appreciate the content I’m actually studying to get my security+. No experience no mentor just content from creators and it’s hard being fresh in the game and trying to determine who’s feeding you the real or just selling you a dream for views. I can say your content is genuine it gives the good and bad again I appreciate you brother

An amazing journey! Definitely motivating me to stay on course and put the blinders on. I almost trapped myself into the illusion but continuing to hit the ground and forge my own path. Great episode as always
