What Christians Should Know about Transgenderism

Russell Moore explains three areas where churches need to prepare as they address transgenderism in the community. They must understand what the Bible teaches about gender, they must avoid stereotypes of gender, and they must prepare to disciple those who feel alienated from their own gender.

I didn't hear him call it "sin."

Wonder how deeply he really believes in teaching gender roles from scripture? Paul was pretty clear about this issue.

I would have rather heard Dr Moore answer the ethics question he posed to his students. This answer barely even scratched the surface of being helpful for those in pastoral ministry.

Funny how ol Russ takes such a radically different approach than men like Moses or Paul.

The Bible calls them unrepentant sinners.

"See to it that no one misses the grace of God" we serious about that?

Excellent points. Too many Christians just do not know how to deal with this and similar issues. They want to be able to but just do not know where/how to begin. I appreciate Moore reminding us to keep in mind the fallen state of these people. I know it is hard to remain compassionate when their is so much vitriol and hate being spewed forth from the LGBTQ...xyz quarters. Nevertheless, we must learn more how to deal with this most salient issue of our day. Pastors, it is you and your duty to not ignore this matter.

You have a "complex biblical view" on transgenderism. That doesn't sound like the rest of the Bible. I bet it does take a lot of words for you to make it sound OK.

Is “gender dysphoria” something a person has rather than something a person does? If it is something a person has, does that person possess it ontologically? If it is not ontological, can a regenerate believer possess it?

This isn’t one Christian to another - this is one Christian to a false teacher - and a para-church ministry TGC - that are apostate. Repent and trust in Jesus Christ!
“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.””
‭‭John‬ ‭3:36‬ ‭
The Son said - If you love me - keep my commandments.
Only two groups in the world. The wrath of God abides on TGC and all false teachers. You do the work of your father.

1:53 and following... But what about cultural views of so-called race Dr. Moore? The views you so proudly champion, aligning with the likes of Eric Mason, Anthony Bradley, Jamar Tisby, and Thabite Anyabwile. I prefer to punt to men such as Voddie Baucham or Bernard Harrison for cultural “race” discussions.
Until TGC and Dr. Moore cut ties with the former constituents listed I will not support nor promote the organization.

What about people who have bodies of one sex and high hormone levels of the other sex? What about people born with genetalia of both sexes? What about boys with micro-penises? I think saying sense of self and body are always the same seems to fly in the face of science.

Repentance is going in one direction in our sin and turning in another direction toward God. We must turn to God and believe. Repentance is NOT us changing ourselves to become good for God. That would make it a works salvation. Salvation is a free gift not earned. The thief on the cross did this. Sanctification is where God does a work within us. It's a process. A trans person has a besetting sin or a propensity to do something that is against the will of God. It is a mental issue but it is a sin. We can also say an alcoholic has a mental issue but it is sin as well. A thief, sin. A liar, sin. Pride, sin. But we must acknowledge it is sin and look to God for mercy that HIS blood will cover our sin...even as the people looked upon the lifted up serpent for healing.

My beloved trans friends: God loves you just the way you are! God (or Goddess, Spirit of Life etc.) doesn't make mistakes and she didn't make a mistake by creating YOU, who are Her perfect, beloved child.
