Watching the England vs France game as am armchair fan, I could see the unsettled French defenders flapping under pressure making reckless challenges in their own penalty area. At 1-1 I was thinking to myself that moment Gareth had them on the ropes, he just needed to do something punchy substitution wise at that precise moment to get us in front (rashford on the left side to push on). An injection from the touch line was so needed, but never came.

Let me quickly start with this… 2018 World Cup squad had Rashford sterling and Kane as the forward three, with Vardy as back up, who at the time was arguably The best ST in England at the time and there was a strong argument that he should of started over Kane he was that good at the time.

Henderson with Dele Alli who at that time was still rated in England with also Loftus cheek who was in great form at that time and look a real prospect unfortunately gets injured all the time now but again he was in great form at the time.

The back line of walker Maguire stones and trippier with Pickford in goal that is 5 players that Southgate uses now! My point being Southgate literally walked into a decent squad.

I don’t get these people that say Southgate has done well since he’s been in the job ? hes had three attempts at winning the big trophies which all of them have been incredibly lucky with the fixtures and knockout draws and failed EVERYTIME, I get its tournament football and in general with football nothing is guaranteed but he has only ever beaten teams England were always favourite to beat!! Germany was the biggest test in the euros and yes we done the job…. but the fact is in 6 YEARS he’s beaten ONE team that we expected to be a hard game… ONE TEAM…. 6 YEARS

He played anti football with three centre backs, two fullbacks and two defensive midfielders… the majority of fans hated it, He refused to acknowledge Trent whilst in his best form, He refused to acknowledge Grealish whilst in his best form, the Only reason they both where taken into the squads was due to the country applying pressure for them to get there chance…. And yet again its happened with the most in form English player this year in Maddison…He refused to acknowledge Maddison in his best form and only takes him due to media and the country applying pressure, EVEN THEN he ends up not even playing him for a single second! And more to the point All these years later from 2018!! He still doesnt like grealish and Trent…

It's like fans are afraid to use the word sack when it comes to Southgate. But for me, he has had a 6 year span with three major tournaments and we have yet to come out with silverware. (the three strikes and you're out applies) I believe Southgate has taken us as far as we can go with him. He's done the groundwork and has set us well for the next few years with the talented crop of young players that we have at our disposal. Now, it's time to hand the baton to a manager that has won trophies and has proven to have a winning mentality at club level, like Lowe, Tuchel, Wenger or Mourinho. Southgate has never won anything at club level and that has spilled over into his tenure as England coach. He is not a winner because he has never won anything. It's not rocket science up and smell the coffee. If he stays we are going to have the same debate in 2 years time and possibly the next 4 years if the FA extends his contract. With him at the helm, we won't win anything and I challenge anyone to make me believe after 6 years of managing England that this man will win a tournament for us. We judge top managers in football by silverware or lack of it. He is not even considered an elite manager by any one's standard. We gave him his chance to prove his critics wrong when the FA hired him and we are still trophy-less ....and yet we are suppose to be an elite footballing nation. It is now high time that we see someone else given the chance to bring us glory.
