How about the hardest majors that pay the least?! It would be an interesting video. It doesn’t have to be low pay but it is considered low pay relative to the difficulty of the major.

Psych major here: Some of the content is just basic memorization, sure, but a significant facet of the information you learn is extremely abstract and takes more than popping open your textbook. I can not tell you how futile it is to try and conceptualize what a certain mental illness looks like when you only have definitions. You need to watch videos, listen to first or second-hand (preferably first-hand) testimonies, and read books by real therapists. Bonus points if you observe an episode or are very close to someone with the mental illness. I wish I knew all of this sooner and didn't assume psychology was an "easy" major because now I feel like I'm behind my peers.

But I get it. It's too easy to get an A for the intro classes, imo.

While these easy degrees to obtain and learn, only few of them can be useful like Accounting, Economics, Finance can be the best ones you’d go for. The rest of these useless degrees; Minor Them

Hey there. As an English major myself, I do have to admit that a good number of people just major in English, either merely because they think that it's going to be easy, or maybe because they have absolutely no idea what they want to major in, and thus choose English just to choose something.

In my own personal experience, though, this major is not for everyone. It can be very challenging, to put it mildly. I have had to study everything from logic, python, biolinguistics, education, terminology, and translation (translation being a very much underrated field, as far as I am concerned), to existential, continental, and ancient Greek philosophy, film, Shakespeare, theatre, language disorders, evolutionary biology, and even law.

Don't go to college for an English degree just because you think you're going to get by without studying. There have been plenty of days that I had to spend more than 10 hours (or even more during finals), in order to be able to cover all the material necessary. The reading lists are extensive, and you'll need to spend more time that you think.

Keep in mind that my first language is not English, which can sometimes make things more difficult for me (in comparison to a native speaker), and also I take extra classes every semester, just to be able to graduate on time because I had to change the specialisation of my degree.

I start my fourth year (and final) year in about a week. Hopefully, all goes well. The one advantage that I have over the majority of students, especially from the US, is that my degree is completely free due to the wonderful European university system. I just have to deal with living costs, books, and that's pretty much it, no tuition fees whatsoever. Even for my first master's degree (hopefully in enterprise risk management, human resources, or in shipping), I will have to pay 8k at most because I'll be attending graduate school via distance learning, and as I already said, European universities are very affordable (and, in many instances, much better that their US counterparts).

A piece of advice that I have for pretty much every single person (particularly from the USA) who wants to go to college, please, please, really do consider studying abroad in Europe (that is, not only as an exchange student because you will still have to pay very high tuition fees). You will thank me later. A year's worth of your tuition fees in the US can sometimes even cover your entire degree in a European university. That has been my case precisely. By the end of the degree, I will have spent about 35k, everything included.

For all the people out there who wish to experience a different way of life, learn a new language, learn about different cultures, gain a new different kind of perspective on life, give Europe a go. Great countries to go include France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany, and many, many more.

For all my fellow Humanities lovers out there, don't be discouraged. If you are determined to pursue a Humanities degree, by all means, go ahead. You can later pursue studies in business, for instance, and increase your chances of employment drastically. Business people with Humanities backgrounds are some if the most valuable employees any company can have. We are needed more than we think.

Even if my comment helps one single person in their attempt to find out what they wish to pursue at university, that's more than enough for me.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Best,
K

I’m an accounting major, I study/dedicate around 20 hrs a week to my classes and I’m barely passing. Keep in mind I work 40 hours a week as well as a teachers assistant for elementary school. Definitely wished I picked general business administration 😭

Economics is one of the best majors in terms of balancing easiness and salary/job outlook. It's only a bit harder than business.

I’d say education definitely depends on what state your in. In the south it’s much much easier to become a teacher, however in PA and New York there are a lot more hurdles to becoming a teacher regarding classes, gpa, government clearance, etc. also depends on what education degree you get in my humble opinion secondary Ed is significantly harder in most circumstances the early childhood ed.

Got my undergrad in psychology. But if I could do it over, I would 100% go into engineering, which is what I want to get my masters in.

Interesting video. I'm surprised physical education wasn't on there... maybe that is lumped into education and/or recreation studies. I always thought of this as the athletes degree. Enjoyed the vid!
