The famous ship Queen Mary was originally going to be called Victoria, which kept in theme with Cunard's tradition of naming their ships with words ending in -ia. When Cunard's director approached King George V he asked permission to name the ship after "england's greatest queen" to which he replied "my wife would be delighted" and thus the name had to be changed to Queen Mary.
