What I didn’t know was that Kate and William being distant cousins only because media painted her as a “commoner”. But then again, the did the same with Diana when she married Charles even though Diana came from the Spencer family.

It's the main thing I envy the Royals for, the fact that they can trace their ancestry back so far. It's actually fascinating to see how our future King and Queen William and Kate are in fact related to one another. One could almost believe that such arrangements have a degree of planning to keep things in the family as it were.

Impressive research. Just a suggestion: there's a thing called quociente of inbreeding. It's a number that quantifies how inbred a person is. I think if you could incorporate that for some key characters in this family trees, it would make it more interesting

My mom managed to trace her mom's line up to King Edward III as well! And to James I, II, III and IV of Scotland. We branch off when King James IV had a baby with a mistress named Isabel Stewart. My mom's parents are related about 14 generations back, and her mom's mom's parents are also related about 14 generations back. It's wild, so tangled and hurts my brain. I'm the 17th generation away from King James IV so I guess I'm a micro-percent related to the queen! I'm as far away from King James IV as Prince William's kids!

If we could all trace our family histories as detailed as the British royalty and aristocracy can, we'd probably all see that we are related too. Up until the Industrial Revolution people stayed pretty close to home in towns and villages their entire lives.
