Excel FIND and SEARCH Functions

This Excel tutorial explains how to use the Excel #FIND and #SEARCH functions. In many situations, however, you may want Excel to find and extract data from other cells automatically based on your criteria. So in that case you can use FIND or SEARCH. Both functions return the position of a specific text string in another text string.
