VC's Métiers d'Art – specifically the 'La symbolique des laques' collection - was part of what made me fall in love with horology. I will never be able to afford them (and even if I will be able to someday, I would never spend this much on a watch), but my god is the craftsmanship absolutely mind blowing.

Props to Federico for speaking his mind (and the truth) about RM. Anyone who truly understands watches knows they're just overpriced junk, but they're such a cash cow for the dealers on the secondary market that no one has the nut sack to say anything.

Totally agree with all your choices. So many other brands that do it better and cheaper. I once considered a U-boat because I liked some of the designs but when you see them in person it looks like a wall clock on your wrist.

I agree with your comments regarding Jacob & Co, and U Boat. RM's for me are borderline. I could wear some models, but to wear one i would have to have it given as i sure am not paying for one!

Kind of figured two of the three would be Jacob & Co and Richard Mille. Uboat I don't love, they're far too big but at least they from what I've heard are pretty well made and unlike Jacob and Richard Mille they do not cost 6 figures. I imagine some folks brought up Hubot and while i'm not a fan I actually would own a Classic Fusion if I had money to burn, overpriced? of course, but not a bad looking watch and the only model in Hublot's catalog I like.

To think, It is possible to acquire an A Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk for less than half the cost of the most basic RM.

I appreciate the unique RM engineering, but Lange are Eons ahead.

I have to agree. And, too funny, I just came back from the Jersey Shore today (Ocean City). We were there for three days, and the whole time I was thinking "there's no way in hell I'd ever want to buy a house here, or live here, or be here along with 100, 000 other people in the summer".
