Again, this is a very helpful and practical example, thank you for sharing, it is in our nature to use the first one you said, we use kind words in this house. Thanks for the practical example.

This is so true. I speak so directly to my boys and my wife thinks I'm too brash, but they hear me 10% of the time. Which is way more than anything else. If you want to be above 10%, you have to be a Disney movie or Pokémon show. Haha. Thank you Ryan!!! You are helping so much. And your audio has gotten way better in recent months!! It's hard with outdoor videos, but it's really a lot better nowadays.

I feel like the parenting advice that we were taught to be “best” is the opposite of what an adhd or neurodivergent child needs. We were taught don’t talk in negatives, tell the child what kind of words to use (“we use kind words” but for my children they need to know exactly what to and NOT to do. I can’t just say “the paper is where we use markers” because they don’t understand that the wall is NOT where we use markers! 😅
