One of the most memorable scenes in the film. I always think of this one when I think of this movie. Rebecca Ferguson's acting is incredible here.

This scene granted Jessica the power she needed, but it also royally screwed over Alia. Jessica, being a grown ass adult, had the mental fortitude to withstand what was essentially a barrage of disembodied spirits and retain her autonomy and sense of self. Alia however, being a developing fetus at the time, had *none* of that, transforming her into what's classified as an Abomination. In short, throughout the entirety of her life, she would be subjected to random possessions by any number of disembodied spirits at any time, with absolutely no way to control or alleviate it.

I remember the book talking about how she looked within to see the molecular structure and change it, then talking with the old reverend mother in the vision, while turning the water of life into something else, which the rest of the sietch would use to basically have a party...
