Since water is so rare in Arrakis, the person "harvesting" the Water of Life must be one of the few Fremen who walks into a body of water during their life.

I'm glad they have 1/4" clear vinyl tubing on Arrakis. It would be a pain to have to drive all the way to Earth to pick up a roll.

Jessica is already a reverend mother. Why does she need to ask about this? Her inherited memories would certainly include all these details. Answer- the director wanted to film the process and show us, and this was the easiest way. A very cool scene.

If I had editing skills, I'd mash this up with the "It's always Blue" bits from the TV show "Legion". Watching David take hits from a bong willed with the Water of Life would be... odd. :)
