As someone on reddit once said, "Bro woke up from the blue Powerade induced coma and chose violence."

This scene is the best face-heel turn I’ve ever seen, as captured by the ominous theme we first hear in Dune part 1, when a horrified Paul tells Jessica of his spice-induced vision of billions dying in his name. Now, Paul is embracing his role as Lisan al-Gaib, Kwisatz Haderach, Mahdi, knowing that he’s leading the Fremen to a genocidal war. And yet, if he didn’t embrace this role, everyone he loves would die. This is a classic Greek tragedy, and Paul is a tragic figure: not a hero, but also not a villain.

A Fremen Kryss-knife cannot be sheathed until it has blood on it. By making them unsheath all their weapons with his provocation, he sets them immediately on the path to violence.

Can we please send this scene to everyone who works at Disney. This is how you do it.

"I will kill the men in the iron suits and tear down their stone houses" -- Oh, wrong scene but the languages sound so similar.

While this movie (( this adaptation of the second half Herbert's magnum opus )) is indeed, without question, expertly directed and beautifully produced (( all characters brought to life by a truly excellent cast, sans Christopher Walken and Zendaya, imo )) and it certainly captivates... as far as I'm concerned... it... fell short. It didn't outright fail... but it didn't succeed.
▫️Paul wasn't _just_ trained to be Bene Geserit, he was _also_ trained to be a Mentat... The significance of this is completely lost on anyone, due to Villeneuve's deliberate choice to diminish the purpose and significance of Mentats...

▫️ The Spacing Guild (( both openly as well as discreetly through manipulation of the CHOAM )) play a critical role in how the Imperium came to be the way it is/was... At the climax -- wherein Paul Muad'Dib Atreides confronts the Emperor and his Imperial Court, and brazenly denounces and extorts him -- the Spacing Guild grudgingly sides with Paul because of what he threatens to do, which isn't simply nuking the spice fields, but because he threatens to kill off the sandworms, through an _ecological cascade_ [[ _You should know by now::... The so-called spice fields are a byproduct of adult sandworm biological process... The sandworms *create spice!_ ]]
At one point, the Spacing Guild actually tell the Emperor to SD&STFU, because the 'Guild realized that Paul knows the secret, and that Paul wouldn't bluff.

▫️Chani was rendered -- first-and-foremost through the script -- into a _VERY_ shortsighted, wholly reactionary (( ESPECIALLY FAR too quick to anger )) cynic.. And while she's NOT like Stilgar in his ardent devotion to the Fremen religion (( indeed, shaped/re-engineered by the Bene Geserit, through their Missionaria Protectiva... )) and subsequent eagerness to become jihadi, at the same time she's NOT supposed to be a vehement, bitter atheist, always openly decrying and denouncing the religion....
....And when Paul announced his decision to marry Princess Irulan in order to secure the Imperial throne, though she was hardly blithe about it, she _doesn't_ storm off in what seems effectively to be... a tantrum. _Why? Because she's Fremen::.. Fremen can be incredibly pragmatic, but in a shrewd manner. It's one of the key traits they developed in order to survive... for centuries._

These key differences concern me --- as well as others like me, who've read the first three books well more than just twice; who've been hoping and praying for years upon years for a contemporary adaptation that won't fail --- because _they WILL_ need to be addressed and dealt with _if_ 'Dune Messiah' has indeed been greenlit....
