Fun fact: I'm the vmware architect who pushed this development 2 years ago, and I didn't search for this video. :-)

I love ESXi. I have a Late 2012 mac mini that was running ubuntu for basic DNS and File sharing, way underused. I loaded ESXi on it and converted the linux OS into a VM, AND moved my two cloud VPSes running my email server and VoIP server in-house onto ESXi and the mac mini still have a lot of resources left to spare.

For a 8GB machine using docker instead might be a more efficient solution - since you are virtualizing Arm-based Linux machines anyway.

Great instructions. When I go ESXI installed with not issues. I was able to upload an Unbuntu image and select it when creating my VM. My problem is when I go to start a VM, I get the following message:
Start PXE Over IPv4
I assume it is an issue in the configuration that comes up after this message, but am not sure what to change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John G.

Now we're talking, awesome video !
Edit (would it be better if we used kvm and a Web interface for kvm such as cockpit-machines ?)

Better explanation of what vm ware esxi (type 1) compared to type 2 is that it sits on top of bare metal instead like virtual box that is inside another OS. And because of that you get better performance.

Great guide, I'm up and running but running real hot - any tips for fan control with Argon One M.2 case? - as I don't hear the fan running in the case.

I wish there were just a ready-to go SD-card image of ESXi ARM. What's the fun in Pi if you can't initially configure it headless.

Haven't watch the whole thing yet, but, in theory, this could be used to create a cheap VSAN witness.

So you mentioned vmotion and vsan but you need at least three hosts. You going to be doing that?
