"Youre only educated when you understand ignorant you are."
Reminds me of another good quote "the truest sign of wisdom is being able to say I don't know.:

I am an ex muslim and lived my whole life in Pakistan believing there’s a god because that’s what my parents told me. When I left the country, I felt that I could breathe and live without the burden of tyranny of Islam.
Edited: I read some comments saying that I was never religious. I didn't know any better. All I knew was the religion. I have to say my prayer five times a day, I have to read quran even though I didn't understand what I was reading. No one did. They just blindly read it and treat the book as some holy article that even protect it from touching the ground. It was manufactured in a factory on a piece of paper and printed by ink. Your school of though is limited. You cannot question anything. I remember vividly I asked some logical questions about prophet Mohammad and my brother almost threaten to kill me. You shut your mouth and blindly follow what Islam says. In Islam there is no logic. You should only follow and do what the book says and nothing else. You cannot question anything. You are not to have any thoughts of your own. Your entire life is just Allah, mosque the book.

I remember being a kid around the age of 6-7, hearing about religious stories, and being like WTF are these adults thinking!?

No matter who you are or what you believe question everything. Especially question yourself and what you believe. Whether politics or anything. Question everything so you can actually intelligently know what you believe

I was brought up in very working class town in northern England 1980s, Catholic, had to go mass before school, endured public conveyor belt type confessions in my primary school hall (spoke quietly with my back to the queue but it was a very strange experience) and was briefly an altar boy...neither of my parents went to church (except Easter and midnight mass) or talked about God but once I started at school it was almost impossible not to have to go to Sunday mass, I was taught (and caned and hit with a huge wooden spoon) by nuns and the priest would call at all the students houses for a cup of tea every fortnight, carefully dropping off the embossed envelopes that he hoped my parents would place pound notes in and then pop in his collection tray at the weekend...so despite all this exposure to the machinations and iconography of one of the most successful organisations in history, and the fact it was seen as a little cool to be religious at my school, not at any time from the age of 5 did I ever believe even one sentence of anything religious I was ever told, it was flat out boring, bore zero relation to anything my family was going through in the job desert that was thatchers post industrial north and it just looked and acted weird, I mean nuns? Fellas in robes? Purple and green silk? Hideously long hymns only the priest sang?... It was just so badly marketed to me, I don't believe I would ever have been open to a religious God but as a kid I was easily amused, it would not have been difficult to bond with me over sat my love of sport, music or a million different things but the Catholic church chose to use the 5 hours per week I was forced into spending with them by forcing me to kneel down in total silence and listen to a little Irish fella narrate incredibly outdated stories written with adults in mind, none of us could relate to any of it and so it became, quickly, almost insultingly boring, we all learned to dread church, a dread that stays with me to this day...what I don't understand is how it ever caught on or more precisely how did it persist into the 20th century? The primary school was obviously where it drew strength from and my parents had me baptised, my first holy communion and was officially confirmed into the Catholic faith simply so I was able to attend the school, from what I remember my non church going parents may not have believed but there was a real atmosphere of having to keep the faith going and strong peer pressure to force their kids into the religion, which they did...what a waste of everyone's time, religion has no place in education

I'm an ex-Hindu recently turned into atheist. Given every single person around me is religious, my family often tries to gaslight me by saying i don't know enough of the world and whenever I question them they deflect it and say i shouldn't question elders for they will always know better than me. It's more psychological manipulation than violence.

This man was so intelligent and well spoken. We need someone like him as Speaker of the House and/or president. One more thing the Republicans or Democrats can’t do.

The whole thing is so patently infantile, so foreign to reality, that to anyone with a friendly attitude to humanity it is panful to think that the great majority of mortals will never be able to rise above this view of life.
