Windows 10 Administrator privileges, can't install application, enable the administrator account

To enable the Windows 10 administrator account do the following:

Tap on the Windows-key. This should open the start menu or bring you to the Start Screen interface depending on how Windows 10 is configured on the system.
Type cmd and wait for the results to be displayed.
Right-click no the Command Prompt result and select "run as administrator" from the context menu.
Run the command net user to display a list of all user accounts on the system.
To activate the inactive administrator account, run the command net user administrator /active:yes
If you want to enable the guest account as well run the command net user guest /active:yes
The administrator account is active now which means that you can sign in to the system using it. It is not password protected by default which means that anyone with access to the system can use it to sign in to it

WTH. I said I can't open files as administrator and the first step is to open cmd as administrator... bad experience

i have already activated the admin account but still have the error "verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services" any suggestions?? ty

It didn't work for me. Administrator account is active but when login as user and trying to install a program, windows 10 doesn't give me option to enter Administrator password.

Oh my god, finally!!! Thank you! I've been struggling with this for months. Now to try to install...
Edit: IT WORKS! Don't be a dumb dumb like me. Actually sign into the administrative account after activating it. Not the one you're currently in.
I need to follow directions better.

tried this and it enables the administrator account, yes, but for me caused all kinds of other problems. the biggest was no internet whatsoever. use with caution. disabling the account and restarting seems to bring me back to normal.

After the last step, it says "the user name cannot be found". I dont know what to do now

Tried to help an older friend consolidate a bunch of OpenOffice files on her win 10 pc but every time I clicked on a file in the file explorer I'd get the elevation error/prompt. I could open OpenOffice and then open the very same file.


WTF are the idiots at MS doing? I cannot get to Linux fast enough but still have to help those who remain on this ridiculous platform.
