How To Enable the Administrator Account in Windows

➡️ There's a hidden Administrator account with complete access. I'll show you how to enable it and discuss why you shouldn't use it very often, if at all.

➡️ Enable the administrator account
Besides the standard limited and administrator-capable accounts, there’s a more powerful administrator account. It’s disabled by default. Enable it by running “net user administrator /active:yes” in an administrative comment prompt. This account runs without UAC prompts and initially has no password, which poses a security risk. You can use it for specific maintenance tasks to avoid repeated UAC interruptions, but it’s crucial to set a password if you activate it.

As and added security measure, I like to change the name from Administrator to something else. Also, I always run under a limited account except when doing things that require admin privileges. With UAC this isn’t often necesssay.

You forgot to mention that to disable this account you need to be logged into one of the other accounts ie you can't disable this admin account if you are signed into this admin account

Is this the reason/solution to the issue I have with files on an external drive where I keep some copies and backups and it responds that I don't have access? I log in to Windows with a local account and it is set to admin but this is the first time I have heard about the limited admin possibility.
I didn't think I would be interested in this video. Surprise!

Thx for good info... so if I enable the Admin Account, and it pops at login-screen, but it wants password right away, if you click it, could it be that there already is an admin password created, and whoever used real admin rights, lets say the IT company that build the machine and installed windows, have turned the admin account off again, leaving me with an administrator capable account, but no way to get "true" admin rights, and they never told me the password ???

If I'm correct, in order to set this up (Administrator) you must have administrative rights; you can NOT set this up while logged in as a user. Is this correct?

It would make sense to activate that account once, just to give it a password! 🤔

Leo, brother from another mother. Are you able to help me, I'm having issues. I don't know where to start, I'll begin with the fact that I can't find where to update my mobile number, can't see "security contact info" on my Hotmail layout. Also I've forgotten my password (even though I'm already logged in) for my main email, and having issues with my recovery email to confirm my main email. Does that make sense ? 😮

what if you forget password to adminitrator account

Doing this is actually a bad idea for the vast majority of people. People already get infected with limited user accounts, this will allow them to get a rootkit without even being asked.

You know that section of the dictionary where is has the word "moron" - your picture might be found there. If you're a regular user but you feel that you should login as an admin - just because it gives you a feeling of importance and that "it's my machine and I can do what I feel like." It's a horrible idea to be surfing on the internet continuously under these two conditions 1. you're logged in as admin & 2. You have no Admin training. There are tons of controls hiding in the back ground of that Admin account that your probably don't even know exist or what they are for. You could be an average 50 year old adult that meets those two requirements I mentioned and some super geek 13 year old (who all they do is spend their time reading admin tech manuals and checking out admin tech YT videos) could wind up remotely hijacking your computer and locking you out of it. Stay off the internet if your in your admin account but don't have admin training. Only go online through your regular user account.
