It's an alternate universe. What would be the point if this version of Batman was almost entirely the same. Don't get me wrong it could easily be utter crap, but again if you're doing an alternate universe version you have to make it substantially different otherwise there's no point.

I think Absolute Batman is an interesting exploration of the character because it removes something that is engrained in main Batman identity, his money.

The most recurring meme about Batman i that his superpower is money, he can have the best man cave, the best computer, the best car and the best everything because "he is rich" and we accept that he can buy all of that.

Absolute Batman removes that, he can't buy stuff, that alone changes so much about the character and potential storytelling that, honestly, I'm surprised they didn't do it earlier.

I grew up reading DC comics (amongst others) since the 80's, and as badass as Batman has been over the decades, the writers made him too Godlike, like all of their other characters. This Absolute Batman seems much more relatable than some rich kid that lost his parents

I genuinely like this re-imagining of batman, giving him more potential problems and esthetics to himself, Gotham, and being batman altogether.

I know a lot of people think he looks BA, but to me he’s just goofy. The bat symbol is just a brick that he takes off with a pair of pliers to make an axe. Feels too exaggerated to be taken seriously imo, like every time I see a photo of him he immediately catches my attention because he stands out so much (not in a good way).
