I fell in love with the Ninth Instantly but took me 20 years to start understanding the 3rd. This masterpiece improved moral virtues in human soul by the highest efficiency and potency, it's my opinion as a lay man in music

When I listen to the third symphony, I will cry every single time during the second movement. Anytime anywhere, it is just crazy.  I know we don't call it Funeral March for nothing but there's no other piece of music has this kind of power.

My absolute favorite piece of music, the opening movement. Not his greatest or most technical, as the 9th symphony or late string quartets, but there exists no music on earth so melodic as the Eroica.

Beethoven's music is always so genuinely dark, but not depressing. Dark in a rich, calming, multi-layered, sensual way.

Talent d´un chef peu extraverti . Un orchestre de choix .. Tous les pupitres chantent sans se faire arracher les dents. Des nuances et du relief pour une interprétation sans esbrouffe .Bravo. On aime.et on s´y sent bien. Merci

Very interesting. However, remember that one of Beethoven's biggest innovations was the unity between movements. In Mozarts time, when each of the movements of a symphony or a concerto were self standing, clapping between movements made sense. After all, each movement was like a seperate number in the program. But after Beethoven, all the movements of a symphony together formed a unified whole.

Enjoyed the performance very much. The production was also very good. Each time I hear this piece, I think the second movement may be among Beethoven's best.

If anyone doesn't like this-don't listen. Are critics trying to impress us with their superior knowledge? I'm not impressed. I enjoyed this performance.

Anyone who has not seen the movie "Eroica" here on YT needs to do so.  A fascinating recreation of this symphony's 1st performance in front of Dutch royalty and Joseph Haydn and the commotion it stirred up as a "new way" of composing classical music during the period.  A must see.

This is the only performance I have ever heard of the Eroica that takes the repeat of the exposition.  I think this performance is a little too delicate and graceful to convey the revolutionary spirit of this symphony.  I can hear the conductor thinking, which is something I never want to do.
