What Beethoven endured in life and yet composed was and is EROICA (HEROIC)!!! Who's with me?

I lost my hearing in my left ear on Christmas Eve 2022 with accompanying loud tinnitus. I played multiple instruments and loved music. I have so much bitterness and hatred; that when I heard a song I enjoyed from my past I wanted to cry. I remembered Beethoven and started reading about him and how this symphony was written after he came back from contemplating his deafness, suicide and moving forward. Thank you Ludwig for continuing on and creating music that I can enjoy as much as you.

Originally dedicated to Napoleon but was taken back when Napoleon declared himself Emperor. Beethoven believed he betrayed the Age of Enlightenment.

There are no words strong enough to describe how great this piece is. It was voted the greatest symphony of all time a few years ago by the leading conductors of the world, and with good reason.

In my opinion, this is the best of Beethoven's symphonies, 22:46 - 25:07 being what I believe to be some of the most beautiful and emotional music that he ever wrote. The pure power of this excerpt is an example of just how moving his music - and music as a whole - can be.

Ironically, this composition did what Napoleon could not. It dominated Europe, or at least, its romantic style did.

Beethoven's 3rd Symphony was written to celebrate the life of Napoleon Bonaparte in France. But when Napoleon showed imperial ambitions, Beethoven tossed the script to the ground to protest the emperor's despotic behavior. Eroica is one of Beethoven's most enchanting pieces of his music. Beethoven's rebellion against the General and the aristocracy deserve our love and respect for the German composer.

Beethoven: Here's to Napoleon, Pro-consul of the French Republic!
someone: He declared himself emperor
Beethoven: give me my pen

Beethoven is one of my greatest all-time heros for his grit and defiance in the face of adversity. Eroica is a monumental symphonic work. Strangely in spite of its revolutionary intensity, I find it a very soothing balm in a most stressful world.

After listening to all of Haydn's symphonies and all of Mozart's, reaching this symphony feels like a miracle, Beethoven's genius is frightening

His great breakthrough symphony, and music was never the same again. In high school I used to come home, relax and listen to Beethoven symphonies. It was a tough time for me and he brought peace and strength. And he will give that to humanity forever.

The epitomal classical symphony. So rich, perfect balance, brilliance of interlocking themes, no note out of place.

Beethoven never saw pictures of our planet, solar system, Milky Way, microscopic neutrinos and protons. Yet his music expresses more wisdom and understanding of this world than most (all) of us.
