Amazingly, diabetics placed on metformin may live longer lives than those who never got diabetes in the first place. How does it work?

I am not diabetic, I am in my 30s and eat a healthy WFPB diet, in good shape. I took low dose metformin for several months for anti-aging effects, and it made me feel awful. Felt like I had low blood sugar, tired all the time. I think metformin doesn't help if you're very healthy, or it isn't necessary.

I think one of the downside I've heard about is that Metformin keeps the body from getting benefits from aerobic exercise.

Question, how much longer are Metformin users living than non Metformin users? Months years?

The studies were flawed as they omitted certain people from the stats that were failing, I can't remember the exact details but it made it appear that diabetics that took metformin lived longer, they didn't.

I would think the definitive analysis regarding Metformin would come from the patient population in France where the drug has been in use from the late 1950's.
