I love this! I’ve always been into science! I love the straw method because it shows how you are blowing more air into the bottle and then the air between the back end of the bottle and water level is so much greater that it creates air pressure and that pushes the water out of the bottle! So cool! The other method was also cool because it shows how the shape of the water bottle doesn’t allow for a water tornado to happen thus the water can’t be released fast. Whereas with a bathtub of water there is room for the water going down the drain, to form a water tornado thus allowing the water to leave the tub faster!

I work for a distillery, and on the days where we are bottling the whiskey, we first need to program the fill levels of the machine. The machine fills up six test bottles, and then we weigh them. If the weights are not correct and need adjusting, we have to pour the whiskey from the test bottles out and back into the tank.

We have to pour the bottles out many times to get the numbers just right. It can be frustrating when you are short on time and have to stand there and wait for the slow 'glug-glug' of the bottles emptying over and over again. I was searching for a way to empty the bottles as fast as possible.

The 'tornado' method wouldn't work because we would get whiskey all over our hands, but the straw method would work perfectly! I could even hook the straw up to the air compressor to see how fast I could get the liquid out of the bottles. Thank you for this! You are saving me so much time, and at work, time is money! So your science lesson is contributing to my future success. I also have a cool trick to show my coworkers :D
