The fact they put the screen into the dash flow and not a screen sticking out of the top is priceless!! I will buy for this reason alone. Plus it’s comfortable and drives really well.

There is nothing exciting about driving the suburban streets...and for many of us thats our daily life. It would be nice to have a car that has a really nice, quiet, comfortable ride. That is primarily what I'm looking for...and the Buick appeals to me for that reason and the styling.

Having been raised on General Motors almost exclusively with a very few exceptions and those exceptions were always American; it wasn't until 2006 at the age of 36 that I could bring myself to buy my first non-American car...a 2006 Mazda 5 and I've never looked back. On occasion I've driven American cars (not sports cars) since then and the words I am screaming in my brain within a country mile are, "lummox, lumbering, clumsy and wallowing" while drawing the analogy to a waterdog puppy with long ears and big feet...gangly with good intentions; tripping over itself as it runs for the food dish. For as visually appealing as the Buick is, and it is, it doesn't sound like it backs it up with performance, unless you include the zero to $41k metric. Here's why? Buick and General Motors for that matter, are happy to be alive and they've defined success accordingly. Victory for them is seeing another sunrise; not what they're are going to do with what follows; victory is not losing constantly and being in the game occasionally. Maybe for General Motors it's all about being "fine, " a pulse, even a strong pulse, is enough for them.

Wish they would've tested the Avenir

I would buy it for the styling. One of best looking CUVs on the market

The CX-5 only gets 79/100 for driving experience per CR, and based on my experience that's pretty accurate. I encourage people to test drive the car of their choice and make the best decision for themselves.

When I first saw this design, I instantly thought of the CX-5. I will agree that it is expensive. I don't think the Equinox/Terrain comparison works because it is a different platform with a different powertrain. If you could get one, I'd like to see a review of the Avenir in AWD with the continuous damping suspension, heads up display, massaging seat, etc. I do appreciate that you can get a loaded model without the sunroof.

Let's get real most people buying these suvs don't give a damn about sporty driving it's all about the style and the tech so going on about the driving is crazy it's comfortable and quiet and looks good bam! There you have it sold

Dont understand the hate for this: the avenir is quite nice

You know, the problem that you guys have with these videos is you talk about how much better some competitors are, like the CX-5 in this case, and there's no point in watching to the end. It's like giving up the plot half way through the movie.

Buick has done some of my favorite concepts in recent history. When the Avista came out I went, holy hell, I want a Buick, which I never thought I'd say.

The quiet tech probably keeps urban noise out, which is probably a big deal in Chinese metros.

Thank you guys for comparing the Envision with others in this market.

American cars are so popular in China that there are waiting lists for Buicks, seriously. Just amazing,

I would like to encourage you two to one day surprise us as you switch seats and quickly record yourselves doing the Kid & Play dance at the front of the vehicle. Let’s see how many are playing close attention to what you’re doing. Also, the review seemed honest but pretty tough on the new Buick made for young/old people seeking “Meh”. I do see a lot of Mazda in it. I wonder what the fully loaded model is like unless it’s truly just missing AWD? Also, what would you say if it came with Magna Ride?

Ok. This is more a rebadged Caddy xt4. NOT GMC or Chevy. It shares everything with the Caddy. That’s being said. Of course if everything is the same you would go for the styling. Nobody goes for a car without liking how it looks. Also if you actually drive every one of the comparisons, Buick makes a very smooth and quiet ride and those seats ! The Buick is like driving on a cloud. That is the niche Buick has always and still owns. The CX5 was a beautiful suv. But it is so dated at this point that you can revenge compare. It looks like a SUV from a decade ago.

Are American car companies ever going to try to compete for buyers who are willing to buy non-American brands?

Great looking SUV, skipping the buy because overpriced by about 7-10K.

Alan S from Facebook here. Paul, style wise, does this look like a 40% larger Mazda 3 to you? I’ve made the assertion that it’s exterior styling is almost exactly the same albeit on a slightly larger scale.

You know I am over 50 and know so many older people just are brand loyal to one company and mostly I dont understand that attitude. My father has been a full size ford sedan person for 60 years. I have pointed out how nice a lexus is, and the toyota engineering that comes with that. He has no interest.
I have owned ford trucks and gm cars and nissan sports cars, audi, vw, several porsche cars and bmw. My preference is porsche / bmw and I will own more of them.. but a suv from toyota or lexus is also coming soon. I just dont quite see the loyalty to one and only one brand.
At this point i would never buy another gm or audi or vw product or any fiat or jeep product based on repair costs and difficult to fix things.
Odd the younger chinese people want to buy buick or see something in it that they appreciate. Just as you said its ok. There is far far better .. but its not the worst either.
