Each Tuesday, we will be releasing a tech tip video that will give users information on various topics relating to our Storinator storage servers.

This week, Mitch gives you an overview of what Ceph is at its core, including a look at the components that are needed to make up a Ceph storage cluster.

Be sure to watch next Tuesday, when we give you another 45 Drives tech tip.

Glad your promoting ceph - we have a 10 Storinator 2.5PB cephfs cluster. Works well, but needs 256GB ram per node if each has 45 osd. We found no real benefits using a private network if you have 10Gb. LACP 2x 10Gb is great. PS ceph isn't owned by Redhat, they are the biggest contributor, Suse, Fujitsu, Intel and others also contribute :)

We are using CEPH Cluster via Proxmox. The has been running for many years and currently running CEPH on Dell PowerEdge R720xd, however, looking to replace these, what would you recommend replacing these servers with. The curent R720 Raid controllers do not support passthrough. We are currently using all SSD drives, however, may want to go with the NVMe tech (very expensive so not sure on NVMe HDs). Anyway you have a goto server, hardware wise you can recommend? We currently have 4 physical servers with 16 drives each, that can be expanded to 24 drives each. Looking for a 2U, 24 drive SSD or NVMe drives. thanks
