Using just a post for shade worked well

Love thinking of the sky, diffusion as a soft box. Not to mention only needing a few pieces of gear so you're ready for almost any location (including empty sandbags in case it's windy).
Great video, Jay!

Very helpful, and seeing it "happen" makes it easy to see myself using these tips. Thanks again!

Genevieve has great expressions. I loved the way you found a hair light in the second setting. Can’t wait to try this.

Back inn2006 David Hobby was handing out timeless information on Strobist, there’s nothing dated about learning to shape light.

You couldn't find a more attractive (less dangerous) location to shoot? Or that was your main point: With f/2.8 or long lens with compression, you don't need a nice location? Another photographer in Miami contends Bokeh is "overrated". Shoots at f/5.6, but he's got awesome beaches. California drivers apparently more courteous than I assumed.
