I love the "what if?" And Nephi going to Jerusalem! It could be very possible that Nephi asked God " could I please go and see the messiah child?" I mean..wouldn't you if you were Nephi? The long waited messiah!

I studied Arabic for several years and taught it in Monterey. I still read the Book of Mormon in Arabic and one thing I want to mention is that the Arabs (Christians and Muslims) that I gave Book of Mormons to told me that they felt that the Book was translated from Arabic into English rather than the other way around. Phrases, grammar, words, and even cultural beliefs are apparent in the Book of Mormon. One point they made was the capturing of prisoners and releasing them after taking a covenant. Such an Arab thing to do though we might not see it that way in our culture.

I have loved listening to these lessons again. I so enjoyed listening to them while out walking through Annville PA in 2020. I’m learning more from them the second time around, though note on Quincy PA, incidentally I’m told the home of the oldest chapel and longest continuous unit of the Church east of the Mississippi

In regards to the signs and circumstances regarding the birth of Christ - it seems that there are plenty of reasons on both sides to believe or disbelieve in His divinity... I would propose by design. Don't believe because of signs or the lack thereof but because you have gone to the Lord for a witness of your faith. How many times are we told not to put our faith in the signs, whether freely given or not?

I personally believe there’s a lot of back and forth of the spirit until birth :) it’ll be interesting to find out the answer to these things in the next life :)

Going with your " what if". We have been told that the angel Gabriel is Noah, "what if" the 3 kings were 3 men how represented his (Noah) son's. Would Nephi be a descendant of one of the son's, obviously as society after the flood shrunk and started with the 3 son's. Another thought I've had with the "what if", what if David A Bednar were translated and it was out in the media that he departed the land and no one could discover what became of him? What would the police do? would the FBI get involved? Would we want either of them to get involved? After thinking about that I have a better understanding as to why it's not stated.
