I find it interesting that the people seem to talk about the guilt of sin as a societal guilt. It is in contrast to our perspective, which focuses more on individual sin and guilt.

My wife and I are enjoying your comments, insights, and humor. Scripture Gems has added much to our reading and study of the Book of Mormon, We do have a question about Helaman 10:1. We were wondering where did all the people who came to believe Nephi was a prophet go? Even the "faithful five" seem to have disappeared. Surely wouldn't some of them have stayed to learn more from Nephi. Did the "division" of the people in their opinions drive them all away? Also Helaman 12:8 reminded me of something my dear old mother used to say. She was a country woman raised in the hills and hollows of the western Shenandoah Valley, so I hope this doesn't offend anyone. Nevertheless, her take on this verse is that sometimes people are "just dumber than dirt". My parents, my sister, and I converted to the Gospel over 50 years ago. My parents are gone now, but my sister and I are still here to witness that our little part of the Lord's vineyard grow by leaps and bounds. Anyway, thank you both.
