It's amazing how varied the rankings are whenever I see one of these videos. Some of your favorites are some of my worst reads and vice-versa. (Dolores Claiborne is one of my least favorite, Skeleton Crew is one of my faves. Goes to show what an iconic writer he is. 🙂

This video is the epitome of why I love watching these King rankings and tier lists. No two are ever the same.
I guess that's bound to happen when you've written almost 70 novels and countless short stories lol.

Seeing Joyland get ranked highly made me happy. I know it's not everyone's favorite, but I feel like it doesn't get the appreciation is deserves.

I watched this video about 2 weeks ago and many of your rankings were intriguing. We share the same favorite novel, but I hadn't read most of your S and A tier books. I completely slept on the Gwendy Trilogy as I only discovered it after all three books were out. I thought the lack of advertising meant it was less a King story and more of a story from an author I didn't know. After you rated it so high, I thought I'd give the first one a try. It was amazing so I read the whole trilogy in a weekend. Fantastic!! Thank you!! I added Richard Chizmar books to my reading list now because I loved Gwendy so much.
I'm going to have to check out more of the ones in your top list, you seem to have very good tastes.

I really enjoyed The Institute. If you like the relationship of the kids in It, you will really like The Institute. I love the way King writes kids.

I’ve only read 9 books so ranking would be

1. IT
2. The Gunslinger
3. The Shining
4. ‘Salem’s Lot
5. The Drawing of the Three
6. The Eyes of the Dragon
7. The Stand
8. Doctor Sleep
9. The Talisman

I think Night Shift is a great collection as well. In my opinion, 11-22-63 is probably one of his greatest books. I know it would be boring for some people. I remember really enjoying the first dark tower too but Drawing of the Three is even better. The Langoliers I loved.

Nicely done Carol! I knew you'd put Salem's Lot in January Embers. I'll use your tier ranking as a quick reference to help me cull SK's less-inspired works. I picked up Salem's Lot last Saturday and I'm really enjoying it.

I’ve watched a few of these videos from others as well to try to decide which king book I would like to listen to or read. I’ve read the majority of the ones you have. As well as a couple not on your list. The institute for me was better than I expected, and I would put it in your mid tier. I haven’t listened to Joyland or Later yet so I plan on reading those two next based on your reference. I enjoyed the trilogy starting with Mr. Mercedes and The outsider also. Will Patton narrates these on audible, his narration of these stories are really well done. Thank you for sharing😊

Interesting. I'm a short story fan and recently decided I want to get King's first two collections since many people consider them his best. When Skeleton Crew went F tier I was like "Oh no" and then Night Shift went S tier and then I'm all like "wtf is going on" . Guess I'll have to find out for myself lol

I think a lot of people have different oppinions on SK books. I love to see that someone else thinks The girl who loved Tom Gordon is a great book. My unpopular oppinion is probably that i didn't care for Pet Semetary and I had the highest expectations for that book.
My top 5 would probably be:
1. The Stand (my favorite book of all time)
2. Carrie
3. It
4. Girl who loved Tom Gordon
5. Different seasons

Yeah, as soon as I knew time travel and paradoxes were involved I went to Barnes and Noble to get it. I think 2011. Wow, cant believe it's been soo long.

Enjoyed your ranking of the Stephen King books you have you lost me placing Joyland way above 11/22/63. 11/22/63 is in my top 5 books of all time. Joyland is in the middle of the pack of SK and Richard Bachman novels for me.

Loved this. I've actually never read a King! 😅 I've watched all the adaptations but never had much interest in the novels for some reason, until recently. I'm planning on reading some of his books this fall and I love seeing what everyones all time faves of his are! I've definitely seen Salems Lot and Pet Sematary on A LOT of faves lists. Any recommendation for someone (myself) looking to jump in?

Seeing The Talisman, The Stand, The Running Man, and The Long Walk placed so low stings, but props for putting Eyes of the Dragon up the top. That book doesn’t get enough love. Same goes for Cycle of the Werewolf and The Gunslinger.

I like Rage, too, and I was unaware people hated it.
