Delightful rendition. The son, George, Jr., as demonstrated here, seems to have had quite a pleasant, if not great voice, but perfectly-suited to this particular-song. Nice to hear it sung in a non-operatic way, this is simpler, more truly American-sounding. There's something about the melody of this song, especially with the background male-chorus, sparingly-used, that kind of chokes me up--in other versions, too, even the more-operatic-ones, such as from the famous Cagney film. Perhaps it's simply the pure-Americana of the song. My only regret is that there aren't a few more lyrics--always slightly disappointing when lyrics, catchy as they may be, have to be repeated over-&-over. This, though, is a fine version!

My maternal grandfather was George M's cousin. So I'm his cousin, removed once by marriage.
