Photoshop CS6 Stroke Path

Got it to work. First create a new blank transparent layer and select this layer. Then draw path in path mode (not in shape mode) when you select the bezier path tool at the top their should be a button that will either say shape or path that you can change. Then go to the path tab and select the path. Then press b or click on the brush button to be in the brush mode. Now the brushes shouldn't be greyed out and you can click on the circle at the bottom to make a stroke from a path. Very confusing to be honest.

when i try to click the circle to stroke the path there is an X over it and it wont let me click it

ive done everything you did, and selected the brush tool and it wont let me stroke the path ?!?! the circle is grayed out

what the hell is wrong with mine! I have been trying for hours and for some reason when I go to get my brush presets they are all locked and greyed out and I cant select them. I really am going outs my freakin head by now and just feel like picking up a manual paintbrush and throwing my computer out the window. Please help if you can. THANKS

Its driving me crazy. Ive been trying to do this for hours but when I try to stroke my path I just can't get my brush presents to display. Its like its locked or something >>> any ideas? THANK YOU... I hate photoshop at the moment :(((

hi and thank you for this usefull upload, therefor i have a question, i would like to have small size of the brush at the extremity of the path, i tried with the simulate pression option but nothing happen, any ideas? thank you :)

I'm not able to stroke any paths, all functions in the palette is grayed out. All I can do is make a marching ant selection.

There is a much better way which keeps things in "vector" land, without any brush. just need to convert the path to a "shape"

before you use the pen-tool, the pen-tool has to be set to "path" instead of "shape". Otherwise it produces a shape. And a shape you cannot turn into a brushstroke.
