My favorite technique with my go-to soft plastic. I use 6-8lb fluro leader, size 1 Owner drop shot hook and the lightest weight the wind will let me use. Usually ³/¹⁶ or ¼oz tungsten tear drop. If you are worried about tying the correct knot just buy the VMC Spin Shot hooks that let you tie a separate tag end for your weights.

I've watched most of your videos. Great instruction. I've learned a lot. One problem. I've tried to find MANY of the products you recommend. Heavy Strike King jigs, in particular. I fish a deep (40 to 90 feet) lake in PA for larger predatory fish. I need to get my jigs down on a lake that is frequently windy with difficult boat handling. I have a bow mount electric, but it doesn't have anchor mode. Cabelas, Bass Pro, Tackle Warehouse, etc. all stock the 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz jigs, but anything heavier (3/4 oz and 1 oz) are not to be found. Please call your people at Strike King and ask them to make more heavy ones.

I fish my finesse stuff on a medium light spinning rod with 12 pound fluorocarbon most of the time, the times I’m not using my finesse combo I use a medium heavy baitcaster with 17-20 pound fluro.

A uni-knot is the best for drop shot as it holds the hook snuk up and down from both sides of the eye of the hook.

Never realized this was the main use for them. Always just threw them on a snap swivel to get some extra distance while fishing for whatever would bite on the local channel. easy to change out if you need more or less weight
