Thanks for this new planter idea. I have built 10 each of your last four planters which I have taken to my local Flea Market and rented the space next to flower and tree sellers. I asked if I could borrow some of their flowers and trees to stage my planters. I told the sellers than I would tell any of my customers were I got them from. They gave me a discount if I sold their plants with my planters. I sold every planter I brought before 1pm and 90% of the plants I had in them. This seller said I could use some of their double spaces new weekend to sell my planters and their plants. Thank you again,

Lighthouses would make for a cool picket build I think.
I live on the coast and a tonne of people love the look of wooden garden lighthouses, built as short and as tall as 2ft-10ft tall.
Every time I see one I think how easy it would be to make one out of fence pickets or pallet wood.

I built two of the 20 inch ones today. I tried the pocket hole method but the wood kept splitting out so I just used a counter sink bit and drilled out the holes on the legs to hold the boards. I also increased the width of the bottom slats from 1/2 inch to 1 inch so those pocket holes would not split out. Also as soon as I posted them in a woodworking group I'm in they wanted to know everything so I shared your video. 05/03/2023

An unexpected request I’ve had is to make the base of the planter (whatever the style) to be able to fit a Lowe’s or Grainger 5 gal bucket. I didn’t think much of it at the time. But putting that in the description of my products increased my sales. All it took was taking some of Matt’s designs (which I’ve bought the plans for) and tweaking the measurements. Oh, also people want the top of the planter to be at least an inch proud of the lip of the bucket.

The mitre cut tops work awesome, cut 8 tops today to add to fence posts.

I found that when you set the cross boards flush with the outside of the frame - the corners split on the legs when you drive in the pocket screws... Even tried switching to 1" just regular screws and it still split. Had to remake 2 of the legs...

In the end I used a 1/4 piece of a birch wood to inset the cross boards and had NO problems after that.
Plus the legs stand out a little more proudly now too!!!

About done with the fist one - and for my first time dealing with angles, I WISH you had explained the shapes a little better so I understood if it was like this - \___/ or /___/
