An excellent call from this dad weatherman, it not only saved his kids, but showed how urgent it was for everyone to get down and shelter RIGHT NOW, DO IT NOW. Good job, sir! 👍🏼

The fear in his voice while trying to maintain his composure 😢

He very calmly told his kids what he needed them to do, and this was information that of course benefited his children, but everyone else watching, too. His calm demeanor and clear instructions had to have helped everyone feel confident in what they were doing

Good dad. Also emphasizes the danger of the situation if he's not waiting until he's off camera to call his kids.

His voice was shaky before he got a hold of his kids but spoke so clearly, calmly, and confidently once they were on the line. A true parent.

James Spann, meteorologist in Birmingham not long ago reported as the storm went over his home
And it’s the only time I have seen him step away during a tornado.. came back and explained he was checking on his wife who was at home. She was safe but they got hit. People came from everywhere to help them clean up because he’s pretty much heroic down here.

This is our meteorologist. I love him. We all love him. I am so glad this popped up and i haven’t watched it yet but already crying. They used it as a commercial for news 4 a little bit right after. Doug’s our guy. Thats literally the slogan for him “Doug’s our guy” and when we have big storms, its him and Amelia and they aren’t getting breaks. I love our news team so much. I watch them instead of reality tv cause you can so tell how close they are.

He’s doing this live right now as i type this, informing us of possible tornados
