Blue tongue skink keeping can be a lot easier if you feed them a high quality dog food/ catfood etc that has everything they need. That's what I do it saves alot of time and I can give them a treat of something else whenever I want or if I have some available. Good video the key is to sneak in foods they don't like with ones they really enjoy

I give my blue tongue baby food that includes lots of greens. She absolutely loves it and she's very healthy.

What if your lizard loves foods but just doesn't like eating? My lizard loves chicken, egg and mince but is just so stubborn . Thx :)

That's really useful, thank you. I'm a wildlife carer and have just started looking after reptiles. This video was really useful in understanding their dietary needs and how to get the little one to eat. Really great, thanks again.

So I've had My Bluey Ditto for a little more than a full year, and He's three years old now.

He's been having problems with his shed around his face specifically around his eyes and nose.

I've soaked him multiple times in warm water, and I've soaked him multiple times in warm water with Zilla shed-ease.
It softens the skin around his face and it goes away but after he dries out it's crustier than before.

It eventually got bad enough that I had to gently wipe it of his face with a wet washcloth after soaking him for 40 mins.
The shed was gone for longer this time but still came back.

I've changed his bedding from aspen shavings to newsprint to find out if it was the dust from the bedding, and I've soaked him at least twice since then each time for 40 mins in warm water with the shed ease.

The crustiness still came back.
And now he has a little piece of stuck shed on the bottom of his front foot, but being a wiggler it's hard to try and gently soak and brush it off even when I have someone help by holding him
And just yesterday I was checking him and there was a tear coming out of his eye and I thought that for sure he had a respiratory infection.
However further monitoring shows that he doesn't have any bubbling or weezing. He just wiped the tear off his face and carried on basking.

I'm keeping him plenty warm and well fed where the lowest temp is 70F and the highest being about 100F - 110F.
I regularly feed him Wellness Cat food with Assorted Greens and Often times with some repashy dusted on top.

I do not keep him under a UVB Bulb anymore And I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

When I pick him up He feels sturdy and dense.
His Breathing is fine but I gave him some banana Yesterday and he hasn't touched it which could be a sign He's Brumating.

A reply is greatly appreciated.

The given reason why you're supposed to mix their food together. Makes sense. I was following "Mountainreptiles" platform as he's versed in mainly skinks. Fun to feed! (to a certain point of pickiness) Loved my mom's meatloaf-which I give a once in a while along with some other foods she makes lol!

My blue tongued loves grapes but not greens so I cut up a grape and smeared it all over the peace of collard greens and he tasted it with his tongue and then ate it, that’s the only way he eats any sort of leaf!

Does this work with beardies? My beardie will only eat water crest and peas and his bugs. He only likes green things.
