I believe that if you're trying to show us the difference between a stock Mustang and a modified Mustang you should use the same type of car so we could really see the different and if it's worth spending the money.

Notice that they did both races with a rolling start. I'd like to see this same race from a dig, I'm sure that eventually the Mustang would run the Corvette down just not sure it would do it in the 8th or quarter. They definitely handicapped the Corvette as it has superior suspension in every way and getting off the line is what it does best.
