When I was in high school, I was in a deep despair. I read the Tao Te Ching and it really helped me.

As a student of clinical psychology (at GCU) and a life coach, I found (from theory and practice) that every successful coping strategy is basically Daoism at is core. It is amazing how we are just rediscovering the wheel and label it with new brand names.

I also love Taoism! A nice example for this philosophy that I've kept in my heart is: Just to see the lake or any water, when you throw a stone into it, it does have ripples, but the stone will fall at the bottom and the ripples will gradually fade away and disappear. So Taoism encourages people to have this kind of altitude as water to face what happened in our life: Let the thing process itself, you will naturally have peace again, it's no need to fight it, otherwise it'll take a long time to get peaceful again.

In Buddhism, when one achieves Nirvana, he doesn't leave the world, but rather experiences the unity of the universe, thus extinguishing all suffering.

People who practices taoism are very charismatic. One can definitely sense it. I was first introduced to taoism during sophomore year in the political philosophy class and I just sensed something from my professor. At the time it didn't really understand what it was.

As time went on, the more the professor took the class and I deeper into taoism, the more I got fascinated by it. And ever since.

Eventually, I understood that taoism was part that made him the way he was :)

I read the Tao Te Ching about 20 years ago while in University, and it changed my world view and my life forever. The book left the deepest impression in my mind. Hardly anything else has come close.

I ended up in a treatment program for C-PTSD. Suffered many years of stress and anxiety. What I found interesting is how much in Daoism lines up with modern psychology.

I love Taoism. Discovering it was discovering the song in my heart. I was not raised in a religious household. I was never attracted to organized religion in general. This philosophy resonated with me more than anything I had ever encountered.

I've read the Tao Te Ching often and have always admired Lao Tzu's wisdom. I'm also a student of Stoicism, and, as such, I'm constantly struck by the similarities between Stoicism and Taoism. Both stress Mindfulness, experiencing Joy by living in the present, and not letting life's setbacks stress you out. Stoic master Epictetus also observed that we find happiness by realizing that there are some things we can control and some things we can't control, so stop trying to control the uncontrollable. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Tao.

I find China to be so incredibly rich in culture, history, and wisdom. I honestly wish I was Chinese. It's such a great nation full of great people with rich traditions.
