Betelgeuse in Orion could go supernova at any time. The system was predicted in 2023 producing a luminous red nova for the first time in 10,000 years! Betelgeuse is a red supergiant star located approximately 640 light years from Earth in the constellation Orion. It is one of the brightest and most well-known stars in the night sky, and has long been a subject of fascination for astronomers and skywatchers. In recent years, Betelgeuse has garnered even more attention due to speculation that it may be on the verge of a supernova explosion. A supernova is a catastrophic event that occurs when a star collapses and explodes, releasing an enormous amount of energy and light. If Betelgeuse were to go supernova, it would be visible to the naked eye from Earth, even during the day. The explosion of a supernova is a rare and spectacular event, and the explosion of Betelgeuse would be no exception. Astronomers estimate that the explosion could release as much energy as the sun produces in 10 billion years, and the light from the explosion would be so bright that it would temporarily outshine the entire Milky Way galaxy. While it is impossible to predict exactly when Betelgeuse will go supernova, it is thought to be relatively close to the end of its life. Some estimates suggest that it could explode within the next 100,000 years, while others suggest that it could be much sooner. Regardless of when it occurs, the explosion of Betelgeuse will be a truly remarkable sight, and a once-in-a-lifetime event for anyone lucky enough to witness it.

Betelgeuse didn’t go supernova yet. People are saying that the star is probably shooting it’s hot plasma that’s why is was expanding a bit. Please correct me if I’m wrong

It hasn't exploded yet it's just shooting plasma

Don't worry, just say Betelgeuse three times and it will disappear.

For yall who are confused why betelguese is moving like that id because it is pulsatating which is what a star does when the time of it going supernova is near

Beetlejuice might of art exploded, but since it’s 600 light years away, it might take us 600 years to see the supernova

Just cause you are zooming in you won’t know it exploded till after about 600 years

If it did it would’ve been way brighter then that

It isn’t doing that no more, it isn’t even ejecting much plasma much more.. it’s shrinking more and more

St. Peter asked God, What are you cooking that smells so good? God smiles and says, Betelgeuse pass the steak sause 😆

The moment Beetlejuice went supernova😂

it needs to go over the WR Luminous Star stage to get to AGB and Explode so it's not a supernova

I'm starting to think this guys doesn't know what supernova means

Betelgeuse is pulsating variable so it is only the maximum luminousity

It has blown up many years ago.. we wouldn't see it when it freshly blows up

It looks like grated cheese melting in a frying pan. I'm hungry. Very awesome, beyond words.

I got some wicket photos and some not quite as good videos of gas explosions from the star. 11:50pm sept 20th, going to put it all into a video because it’s very beautiful.

A supernova means a big explosion when a star explodes, not when it pulsates

Betelgeus will supernova in 100 thousand years
