I would love if you did a “what’s in my closet” video - I have loved seeing your style evolve and feel like you’re in your best style era, and as someone new to the UK living in a small apartment, it’d be so helpful to see what pieces you prioritize and where you get them!

As a frequent train traveler let me just add that having a small suitcase also has benefits in the train as you can usually use the overhead shelf while bigger ones need to be in the luggage racks where they can (technically) get stolen much easier - but great video :)

I was an overpacker and I noticed that most of the stuff I brought with me I didn’t even wear! So for my recent trip I just used the 6 tops and 5 bottoms tip I saw on the internet and I didn’t even ended up using everything. I noticed that I re used two of the bottoms too. Definitely less is better, at least from my experience. I don’t know why I thought I would need 3 outfits per day before.

For a long trip it really boils down to this: Do you want to pay the baggage fee and use your time at baggage claim or do you want to find a laundromat at your destination and spend the time washing/ ironing your clothes. Which ever feels good to you is the best choice.

I use laundry bags as packing cubes. Comes in handy when you do laundry on the trip.

Some things I also do is I pack a duffle bag that collapses into nothing in my carry-on for when I want to shop on my trip. It's much easier to check in luggage on the way home as you really only need to make the trip from airport to home so no lugging it around. Also, I wash my clothes (underwear and tees) in the hotel sink so I bring some portable detergent. Recently discovered merino wool tees - they are an investment but so great for travel - regulates your temp better, washes well in the sink and dries fast and you can wear it for several days without it smelling too. So a win win for me.

I think the reason why I need a checked luggage is because I can’t help buying stuff in other places!!!

This may be the most useful how-to-pack video I have seen. Thank you very much.

It’s not the clothes I have an issue with….its everything else. Skin care, I’m over 50, I need it, medications, and body and hair products.

As a flight attendant, I will tell you that packing light is the best thing you can do because when I am not working, I am traveling, and I take nothing more than a carry-on and an overnight bag, depending on the time. In each bag is room for items I might acquire along the way, although I avoid necessary purchases by traveling. If you plan on traveling with just your carry-on, buying a ticket gives you an earlier boarding group after boarding group 3 is best. Most likely, there is no more space on a domestic flight. Pay attention to the aircraft. If it's an Airbus 319, 320 or a 737 other than 737max, the overhead bin space is most likely limited. Especially if you're on a 737-800 or a widebody plan, there is typically space for most carry-on luggage if people pay attention to crewmember instructions. Give your fellow travelers the courtesy you would like and put your backpack underneath your seat along with your purses or shopping bags; that way, the flight leaves on time because you're flight attendants won't have to contact gate agents to make bag tags and, then the agents have to contact the baggage handlers to open the cargo door. If you have connections, this can add up to 45 minutes to a departure delay. The further flights are possibly Miss connections. Once you hear your cabin crew announce that boarding is complete, throw your small items up if there's overhead space. The cabin crew will not care. But also remember, if you're in a lesser boarding group, the space that's a lot to you is the space that's in front of your feet, not over your head, so if you're boarding groups four or five, most likely, you will not get space in the overhead on a domestic flight. Once again, please be considerate of your fellow travelers. If you have one of those big backpacks that count says you're carry-on, don't come on with a big backpack and a roller board because there's only one item in the overhead bin per passenger on a domestic plane. There are 165 seats and only spaces for 65 bags. If you're flying on a Boeing 787 or 777, the bins that is over the windows easily accommodates rolling luggage. The bends over the middle seats are for smaller bags. So please give people the kindness you want; it will make the travel experience so much better for everyone.

You pack your things so nice and neat Maddie & I think everyone should do it when going on a vacation.

This is one of the best packing videos I have watched. Clearly explained and visually very well demonstrated. Thank you 😊

Ever since I started travelling with a backpack instead of dumping my stuff in a car I've learned to pack lightly. That first trip where I had a sore back and was juggling several bags wasn't fun.

Nice video. I too only travel with carry on. Only 1 thing which makes me nervous is your open tote bag - ive seen so many people have their passports stolen in European cities (im from dublin) so i personally always ensure zips on backpacks and cross body bags

This was a great video! You say why, why packing light is better. Most YouTubers just say, “pack one Marino wool shirt….. for 6 weeks….” Nope. lol.

Instead of packing cubes I have always used plastic bags/packaging, tote bags and cardboard boxes I already have lol, it saves buying a new thing. Sturdy cardboard boxes are also super useful to put a breakable item inside (like if you buy a souvenir or gift).
