The paradox is that being okay with being unbalanced is actually how you become balanced

If I'm a employee, I'm working my required hours, and I'm doing what I want with the rest of my time.

If you are an owner yes, crush it If you are an employee and not spending at least 30% of your "Work" life, before or after whatever time you decide on personal wealth creation, then you are short changing yourself. Owners of companies will not spend time to grow my capital. I do. They will NEVER get 100% of my capability. That is for me. Most owners use human capital as leverage for personal gain. Real owners will give you a portion of the company.

I LOVE how Leila's videos are direct, sincere, genuine, no BS and extremely value-able insights. This 8 minute video provided more value than a 1k course.

"What if I was allowed to be imperfect?" <-- Such an important mindset shift

If you are getting paid by the the hour then yes work life balance is a lie. However if you are on a fixed salary you should have boundaries around the amount of hours you work. If an employer says 40 hours per week and you are constantly expected to work 60 then there is something wrong and you should either be getting paid more or workload needs to be reduced.

Uh, sort of. Leila is comparing a workaholic entrepreneur's choice of life to employees. You can live however you want (like work all the time) but you can't expect others to do the same unless they want to - and only if there's a need and reward for that from an employee (equity, stock, real money and wealth, etc). Short term pain, long term reward type thing.

Also, the people who do this can't harm others in the process because that's when it's wrong (genuinely neglecting kids and a spouse, etc). This works for Alex and Leila cuz they don't have kids and they literally ARE each other's family and business. There is no difference between them, their relationship, their life goals and their business. With other people, their work can only be so fulfilling - they want and need other things in their life (OTHER goals - kids, family, pets, friends, hobbies, community organizations, even their OWN business, etc).

That being said, it is useful for working couples and families to not have ridiculous rigid rules like "be at every baseball game" and have dinner ready "every night" type thing.

THAT type of inflexibility among everyone in a couple and family isn't useful or practical / helpful for anyone - as it's teaching everyone to be unrealistic and is not supporting the people earning the money to provide a living for everyone as well as securing and building their money earning skills sets and careers.

I don't comment often but your videos is helping so much !
I have 2 businesses and my ex-girlfriend was screaming at me for the fact that I was working so much, it made me think there was something wrong with me (and It was heartbreaking for me) but the truth is that she was not supportive at all and had poor communication skills.

Thanks for your videos !

I’ve got a great fulfilling business, and I balance that out perfectly with family, friends, rest and hobbies.

Why? Because I set the intention of how I want my life to be. Yes work and life are intertwined. Yes you need to put in the hours from time to time.

But always working long hours that spill into evenings and weekends for me sucks.

So I’ve created a business and lifestyle that matches my own values.

So I guess people have different definitions on what work-life balance means.

Everyone is different, and there’s no one-size fits all. And your life will reflect your beliefs. If you believe you need to work around the clocks… that’s exactly how your reality will turn out.

Be careful what you believe because you’ll probably get it.

P.S. This isn’t a dig at you Leila. You’ve mentioned valid points that work well for you.

P.P.S If you like Netflix, go ahead and watch your favourite show.

Don’t allow the business community make you feel guilty for doing so.

Well hey. You being a business owner, I get you needing to stay late. But I wouldn't go expecting others to do the same. If they wanted to work that hard for a business, they'd possibly start their own.

If I’m working a day job, then i work as least as I can. If my own business, I work as long as possible

I think working for yourself just brings another feeling ... you just want to keep going for yourself

Your line of argumentation is sound, but it's fron the perspective of someone who actually enjoys their job. I think that is the thing that changes everything. For most their job is a necessary evil they have to do to trade their time for money in order to meet their financial obligations. Doing more work than you have contractually agreed to with your employer is a waste of personal time for them.

I agree that it's better to do meaningful work than to spend time watching Netflix or some other similar activity. However, this isn't very practical for people with children. Children don't wait for you to grow. It's up to you whether or not you miss their lives. Regret minimization is a sensible goal to have, and people often regret not spending enough time with their children when they're older. It also shows that the Hermozis don't (yet) have children.

ya this only applies if you dont have kids. if you have kids and work 14 hrs a day your kids will suffer because they need love and attention

I value energy first, time, and then money (combo of the two). I will never again hustle 24/7/365 because it leads me to burn out. But everyone is built differently. But I will hustle up to 24/7/182.5 when the additional energy, time and money are required to level up. I now work in seasons (like the rest of nature). Working in seasons has proven to be the most sustainable and profitable for me.

And I agree, we've gotta be energized in what we do. I believe passion is the true fuel for the mission.

if you don't have a job that energizes you, what can you do?

The way I always looked at the premise of work life balance is that its directed at people with "jobs" who only do what they do to make money. And in that context, if you spend all of your time trying to make money, you'll miss out on everything else life has to offer.

While others have become millionares in before turning 35, I am still looking for something I enjoy doing so much I would work that job for 16 hous a day. Some people never find it (or give up on finding it) and try to "balance" a job that pays but they hate, with their life outside work that doesn't suck.
