Marko (Baby Lasagna) has refused today the award of 50k EUR for his performance and result, by Croatian government, and He has decided to donate 25k to 2 oncology pediatrics clinics in Croatia, each. This guy only couple months ago was finishing his final interview for working in a tourist office during the summer. What a young man!

Beside being so highly catchy and relatable, Baby Lasagna (Marko Purišić- one person, not a band) himself wrote lyrics, made music, arangement (in his bedroom!) and came up with this staging in 1 MONTH (doing all other things like interviews, official video etc) as he came to competition as a reserve. His girlfriend is in charge of his visuals and his brother is a drummer, and everything is made mostly with a help of his family and close friends. This guy delivered, not only a song, but values too. He's not bringing nudity, cursing and there's no any other provocation inside his lyrics or visuals. That's what ESC is all about. It's the essence of this festival. It's a SONG competition made by an author himself. Also, the song is about very serious problem not only in Croatia but many other countries. Young people forced to leave their homes and loved ones in a persuit for better life. It is particulary visible in our villages which are dying out because people can't live from their own work on their own land. MArko sings from a perspective of a young man who is in that situation, preparing to leave, saying goodbye to his loved ones and he is anxious because he doesn't really want to leave, but there's no going back now because there is no other option. Before his departure he is inviting his loved ones to have one last party with him and dance together an old village dance Rim Tim Tagi Dim. He is mixing folk elements (folk costumes, folk rhythm, folk dance moves) with rock/metal elements. Marko himself is not aware of what he delivered here because he's such a humble and kind soul, which is such a rarity in the world these days. I hope Croatia will rank high, but the dream would be to actually win! 🥰 But no matter the final result, first or last, we love and support our Baby 🥰 Greetings from Croatia❤
